I seem to be in the minority in that this was the first episode that I haven't enjoyed at all. I found everything about it overly obvious, from the entirely predictable plot to the really heavy handed and equally obvious jokes. And c'mon, furbies? Nubbins? Gak. The writing is frequently a little stilted, but I ignore it because I really, really want to see this show do well - this time, though...
But as I say, I seem to be in the minority. It's way more important that the audienceas a whole enjoy it, than that I do. I admit, I am not un-picky...

this episodes ok because its meant to be a comedy episode (as far as sanctuary goes) so take it for what its worth

Then I guess the problem is that I didn't find it remotely funny - although that 'women and geeks first' line was good - most of his lines were good, except for that nubbins bit at the beginning... Of course, SG-1 has spoiled me a bit on the amusing dialogue front.

Good episode. Finally starting to not totally hate Ashley, although she needs a haircut pronto.

The humour was good in this episode. I hope the empathic girl was set-up for something later on, else it didn't seem to fit in and was a bit pointless. Overall, it wasn't as strong as Kush, which really made me think the show has potential. It was a good episode though! I would've liked to see Helen dissecting a Nubbin!

Nubbins was like Tribbles on steroids. Kind of fun (in a gory way) but I guess I found the "attraction" scenes and sexual innuendo to be extremely awkward and silly. I wish I'd seen the actors having fun with them, but I just thought they seemed embarrassed to say those lines! I found myself changing the channel during them and then switching back to see what was going on with the Nubbins once they were over.

Henry's "geeks and women" first thing *was* funny though.

Maybe the show just isn't my cup of tea. (Torchwood isn't either and I know tons of people love that!)

I rather enjoyed the Sanctuary premiere, but since then it hasn't really held my attention from a storyline perspective. And the characters aren't really grabbing me either. Will hasn't really gelled for me yet and I find Ashley very annoying. Henry is amusing though. I haven't found Magnus all that compelling either since the premiere. ( I have to give AT credit, though, I don't see "Sam" at all when I watch her onscreen!)

Perhaps I'll hang in there until next week as it looks like some valuable backstory will be revealed.

The thing with comedy is it's very subjective, what some may find funny, others may not. So it's very difficult to write comedy for 'everyone'. I myself thougth the actors were having a fun with those lines (I don't know how they could keep a straight face with some of them )

I did think of Tribbles with this episode, but I thought it surpassed them by far, I never laughed at the 'trouble with tribbles' but I sure did with at Ashley's nubbins

Whoa, another great ep. Full of unexpected twists and funny moments. Those Nubbins sure reminded me a toy called Furby. Can't wait for next ep! Love the show so far.

I just finished watching it for the second time, and it was even funnier then the first time around. Every scene Henry was in cracked me up. Starting from his talk with Ashley about her Nubbins (flops in the gutter), to "Women and geeks first...Oh, no wait, that's all of us", and everything in between.

At first I was worried about the whole Helen/Will thing (not a shipper), but I think it was handled very well, very...subtle, unlike Ashley/Will (loved the butt scene btw ). But I did like the fact that we got to see the sexier unapologetic side of Helen. Will is uncomfortable, but she's having fun.

Bring on "The Five"

Found this episode an interesting change of pace. I was a little concerned over the nubbins when I read about promo stuff but I laughed out loud a lot. Frankly, we could all use more of that.

Now I'm seeing what AT meant when she was talking about Helen being sexy and unapologetic. Laughed at Ashley checking out Will's butt.

Best part of all -- Henry! I officially love him. Loved the lines you mentioned. Also loved:

- I've got suction and I'm not afraid to use it (and blowing on the end of it)

- his bumping into the wall because he was looking at Sophie and then walking by the doorway to get another look ( I missed that on the first viewing)

- the name he called the nubbins ending with "invisirats"

- telling the nubbin his Mom was a sewer rat

- telling Helen to lie to him about the pain

- threat level to holy crap

i'm going to say this, but i want to make a point that i'm *not* putting down the character or actor, but...

i said this on the sanctuary yahoo group, but i don't want too much focus to be given to henry. i've seen quirky or fun/funny characters get positive reactions from fans, and then suddenly that character is being focused on at the expense of the others (dr smith from 'lost in space' is the first example that comes to mind). i want this show to continue to be a drama, with tidbits of comedy thrown in, with the focus being on HELEN, will, and ashley.

i'm not meaning to be a damper on our fun here, just... guess i'm afraid of too much 'ooh, funny henry!' influencing the sanctuary ptb to the point that helen's reduced even more.

and that my friends is my number one issue with the show so far. not enough helen.

btw, did anyone see the almost porn add showing during atlantis and sanctuary? it was some blond bimbo asking ppl to call and talk to her... yeah, the camera work and the music, besides the incredible and subtle acting work of the bimbo, told us this was light weight porn.

while i was somewhat dreading seeing the helen/will scene, i'm interested in rewatching that scene the most. i liked amanda's acting in that scene because you just know helen's knowing something isn't right. the usual great work by amanda.

Well said my dear . I loved Kush because it was the most Helen in an ep so far, and I know I probably shouldn't say this, but even before the show started, Amanda was my one and only reason for wanting to watch the show in the first place, and I'm sure PTB would never reduce Helen's screen time for another character. And I know that because just because's Amanda's one of the PTB *YAY*, and you'd never hear Amanda say she want's more screen time to herself, I mean you'd never hear her say "Ok, now we need another big scene for ME." Quite the opposite actually, of anything, she tak screen time off herself, and give it to someone else. After all, you know how she hates watching herself on screen. I mean, sometimes I wonder if she did the SG-1 and Atlantis commentaries blindfolded . And God knows how she watched herself on the big screen for the Continuum premiere-- TWICE. It must have been torture for her .

I just watched it and I loved it! The Nubbins were like psychopathic Tribbles from Hell... with more entertaining side effects. LOL

Great lines, and great effects with the animals- highly entertaining. Also, the new young lady is very interesting. I think she'll be back to lend a hand again.
