    Captain America sidekick: Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan, one of the actors who tested for the title role of Marvel’s “Captain America” which ultimately went to Chris Evans, has nabbed the key role of Captain America’s sidekick Bucky Barnes.

In comic book lore, Barnes, a teenaged orphan, was too young to join the army but became one camp’s mascot. When he discovered Captain America’s identity, he joined Captain America as a partner in his Nazi-fighting escapades. The character died in Captain America’s final World War II adventure.

After decades of being “dead,” the character was revived in 2005 and brought back into modern comic continuity, initially as a covert assassin named Winter Soldier.

It is not clear if the movie version of Barnes sets up the Winter Soldier identity. Marvel would only confirm that Stan is playing Barnes. Insiders also say Stan has signed on for five or six pictures.

Marvel President Kevin Feige Shares Status on Marvel Films!!

Wednesday was a big day for Marvel Studios because director Jon Favreau wrapped up "Iron Man 2." Kevin Feige, Marvel's president of production, was in a celebratory mood, but it was split with with anger over the New York Daily News reports, which Feige called "garbage."

Feige said the plan to meld the Marvel Universe on the silver screen will move forward dramatically now and he said there are some surprises in "Iron Man 2" that set up an unexpected bond to the "Captain America" movie that director Joe Johnston is doing early work on now in England.

Samuel L. Jackson will NOT be in "Thor."

"Now many of the pieces are in place ... with 'Iron Man 2' finished and 'Thor' more than halfway done, that lattice work is being built."

Feige said Branagh is proving to be the ideal choice for "Thor" -- the executive knew he would be after seeing the buoyant and accessible "Much Ado About Nothing," which made Shakespeare fun and funny even to "comic book fans like me," Feige said. He added: "You could actually laugh and understand all of it."

Exclusive Interview: Director Joe Johnston Talks the Casting of Chris Evans as Captain America

EARTHS MIGHTIEST: When you were going through the casting process, in your mind, what were you looking for? In other words, what qualities did the actor being cast as Captain America have to have?

JOE JOHNSTON: Casting Captain America is really casting two roles...Steve Rogers before and after the transformation from 98 pound weakling to perfect physical specimen. I can't divulge how we're going to do it, but the performance will be Chris Evans from beginning to end. An actor playing Captain America has to embody that backstory and let it inform his understanding of his new self. One of the interesting aspects of the character is the effect that kind of total transformation would have on the his psyche. It gives the character more dimension and the actor playing him a wider range of interesting choices.

                      Sam Jackson confirmes Captain America

Q: You’ve talked about doing nine films as Nick Fury and that it would be a gradual road before you get a Nick Fury film. How has that journey been?

Sam: I got started on it when I did the end of Iron Man 1. My foot was on the path. Now, my foot is a little deeper on the path 'cause we've got Iron Man 2. I'm not in Thor. I’m supposed to do Captain America this summer in London.

Chris Evans on Sleepless Nights accepting "Captain America"

Promoting his latest film, The Losers, ScreenStar caught up with actor Chris Evans. In the interview mainly about Losers, ScreenStar interviewer, Ian Spelling brings up his upcoming lead role of Steve Rogers in The First Avenger: Captain America.

How big a responsibility is it to take on that role, that project?
"It is a big responsibility. I'm a little scared, to be honest. I'd be lying if I said anything else, and I have no problem being honest about that. It's intimidating. It's a big responsibility and you want to do your best work. I'm not quite sure what else to say. It was a challenging process for me, trying to decide whether or not to do it. I came down on the side of going for it because I really think Marvel is doing some great things these days, the script is great and it's going to be a fun character to play. He's a wonderful character, just as a man, aside from the comic hero background. If it was just a story about the man, Steve Rogers, I'd be really interested. He's an incredibly noble, honest, selfless man, and those are qualities that I think people can aspire to and look up to."

Taking on this kind of mega-project can really change an actor's life…
"It was tricky saying yes. A couple of sleepless nights were involved. I'm going for it and I'm not looking back. I'm trying to just stay positive and focus on the fact that it could be a great thing. It really could be, it should be, and that's the way I'm looking at it."

                        continues:

                              Two-Face Joining Captain America?

Rumor has it that a certain Oscar winner might be joining Captain America.

UGO claims that Tommy Lee Jones -- whose comic book movie credits include Men in Black and his turn as Two-Face in Batman Forever -- is up for an unspecified role in the Marvel movie, which is set primarily during World War II. IGN contacted Jones' camp at CAA, who said they'd never heard the rumor before and thus had no comment on it.

Although UGO didn't know which role Jones would supposedly play, they assume he'd be a military man perhaps involved with the Super Soldier program that creates Cap.
