I've only seen the first two episodes of Firefly and the feature film. Based on that limited exposure, I think its reasonably entertaining. In some ways, I think it's a little too quirky for its own good, what with the whole motley crew of space adventurers and all. Some of it (like the Chinese and western stuff) comes off as too gimmicky for my tastes. I tend to prefer more escapist fare like Stargate and Trek, but Firefly has its moments. I'm not falling over myself to see the rest of the show.

Trust me, Sam, give it a good go. Rent out the first disc or two, or borrow them from a friends or use NetFlix of BigPond Movies or something similar, and sit down and watch them. Trust me, you'll get hooked like the rest of us.Comment

*sigh* I loved Firefly and Wonderfalls. Too bad they only got a couple of eps each.
Enough people liked it to warrant a movie (and hopefully a sequel).

I'm not a huge Firefly fan just yet but I went and saw Serenity and thought it was excellent. My brother recently got the series on DVD and so far I 've only watched the first episode but I've really come to love it. It's just so funny and smart and witty. I hope to see the rest of the series soon. If people are willing to give it a go i think they'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's about a crew of 'misfits' for lack of a better word. A few of them lost in a war for independence and then bought a ship because they really didn't have a lot to go back to. Then they get a bunch of odd people to join up, including a crazy psychic girl and her prissy doctor brother (both fugitives), a Companion who fights with the captain a lot, a preacher who knows more about crime and stuff than some of the crew, a mercenary with a girl's name who also gives his guns girl names, a pilot who talks to plastic dinosaurs... you get the idea.Originally posted by BigBadBob

yeah well i live in australia and well i only saw 2 episodes when it was on tv mostly because i didnt know it was on tv but yeah i saw the reaver one u know when the ship is just floating in space i forget the name and trash and well i dunno i forgot about it i liked it but forgot to like check the time and see if it was on next week and so on but yeah i went and saw the movie and was like this is bloody mad and actually remembered i had seen a few episodes on tv and well on boxing day i found the boxset i had been looking for it before hand but never found it when i was looking but yeah found and bought it on boxing day and i have watched the whole series 3 times from start to finish lol not all at once but yeah i could go watch it again without being bored of seeing it soo much so well if a show can do that its extreamly good oh and i cant wait to buy then watch the movie again
