An article about one of those proposals said something about it being written so that the govt. didn't have to give a reason for denying a permit. So in essence, the govt. could use this to deny a permit for anyone without telling them why.

That is unacceptable.

They also blocked funding for research into gun crimes. Of the $5 billion CDC budget only $100,000 goes into researching ways to stop gun crimes. The NRA are behind that. Blocked records on gun ownership and suppliers being kept on computer or updated. It's almost impossible to trace a gun because everything is on paper. Try to find information about one gun when you have a team of a dozen people searching through outdated paper records of over 350 million guns.

In a country whose Constitution states "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed", that is a good thing.
Yes, I know, the 2nd amendment is just so inconvenient for those who want to disarm the populace.

If enough people feel that it should be changed, there is a process for amending the Constitution.
But to be blunt, if there isn't enough support to change the Constitution, the anti-gun folks ought to sit down, shut up, and accept the situation because they can't change it.
Stop trying all these backdoor, bit by bit regulations to do what the Constitution says you can't do.

A constitution written in a very different sort of society and time, far removed from the modern times.

And it's not about taking your precious guns away, it's about more control. There are people out there, waving their AR-15's that shouldn't be owning a gun in the first place.

If you could at least keep the nutjobs from owning a gun, or buying one (or two, or three) legally... That would be a very good start.

Until then -- prayers and thoughts will have to get your through your next mass shooting and more people are going to die because some freakin' idiots can't remember they live in 2016 AD and not in 1875AD.
