If I don't have anything to say then I'm not going to waste space by posting just for the sake of posting, or even for supporting a "good idea".

To a certain degree, Anubis, if you click on your own profile, you should be able to "view all posts made by" you. Once you get past a certain mark, though, the oldest posts are no longer viewable that way. My oldest posts are lost somewhere in the back of beyond. Which is probably a good thing. It probably wastes a lot of server space keeping tabs on every single post made my every single person on this board. After a certain point, you have to say "enough is enough".

That's a bit of a blow to the ego, let me tell ya.

Of course, that being said, I've also seen a few starter posts where I wonder why people bothered to post it in the first place... "What does that have to do with the price of beans in Burma?" Oh well.

I also feel kinda sorry for posts that were popular for a while and then gradually slip towards the back of the queue. They had their moment of glory, and then it passed like a bat in the night...

Shadow pretty much expresses my views too on the subject. It would be a nice bit of courtesy,if readers actually put a comment!

One thought to add though: Better if Posters who actually reply, don't just do it to be deliberately offensive!

I think it would really jar me off, if all I read on a Thread I'd started, was a string of "What the H### were ya thinking?? Negativity!!

Better Posters just abstained from replying, than to use any chance to attack!

Most Members here wouldn't stoop to that kind of stuff, but still.........
Good point, there. Just the same: It'd be sad (and incorrect) if thread-starters thought people weren't posting because they only had bad things to say!

I often leave threads w/o posting because I don't have time to read all the posts and I'd hate to drive the thread off-topic or back in circles. And, of course, if threads were full of meaningless posts, it'd slow down other readers who might be more invested in the topic. The # of viewers should be taken as a compliment, even if most of them don't post.

Usually, though, it's just my laziness and a lack of something to say. (Which, if I may make a conjecture, is probably common...)

I shall try to do better!

I think that a lot of people are being scared of from making threads cos they're scared that they won't get any posts. I know that once I made a thread and I got no posts whatsoever and now I'm always v. skeptical when I'm making one. So, we're missing out on a lot of good threads because people are not sure if they will be well received.

I reckon we should stop this. I think that whenever you go into a thread, unless it is about something that you have absolutely no idea about or its pretty obvious that its not a thread that would appreciate it, you should post anyway. It could be something as small as 'Good Thread' but just post. Just to raise their self-esteem. And it would raise your post count for minimal work.

so, what do you think? Good idea or terrible one? Yeah, let's get some more threads or no let's not clutter the forum. It's your choice.

Oh, by the way, I know that this isn't exactly gonna get a lot of posts. Like, it isn't the type of thread that you can respond to. But, you may as well start practising your pointless post skills now, so that this thread can stick around for as long as possible and this 'little' message can get around better.

                    If you don't I'll have a tantrum I mean it I will
Heyyyyy...are yiu tring to descibe my threads...they either get none, or max out at 20 replies and then die a terrible, lonely death

;ast time i started a thread, it became a massive argument between non-shippers and shippers and stayed on the front page for four days. i think that was good.....

I'm just pushing this back up the top becasue it's a supreme irony that a thread about threads not having posts should be at the top.

plus i'm feeling bored and mischevious
