Hi, everyone!
Joe has announced that, after many months, his blog and this "Ask Joe Mallozzi" thread are coming to an end.
We have 3,859 posts in this thread as a giant "Thank You!" to Joe for letting us all in on the production of Stargate. It's been an absolutely unique opportunity to get to ask Joe questions and learn about his day-to-day work.
Thanks to everyone for participating in this long-running feature, and to Joe for pulling back the curtain! I for one am looking forward to many more years of SG-1 and Atlantis fun.

Which character (present, past, main, recurring) would you say is the most like you in personality and thinking and which one is the most different?

Dear Mr. Mallozzi,
I would like to thank you for being a part of the franchise that keeps me and many of my friends and family entertained. There is no other way to put this with finesse, elegance or grace so I will forgo the unnecessary buttering up. I NEED a job. May I please work for you? I am willing to relocate to Canada to be your lackey or even a production assistant. I have accomplished many of my goals in the twenty-three years that I have occupied time, space and air in this world. Some of them being: working for a radio station, playing music in a band, finding the meaning of life, assisting those in need and educating young moldable minds. A few of those goals that I've had on my list that have only been accomplished in part or not at all are: traveling the world, riding a motorcycle, flying in a fighter jet, skydiving and working in television.
My skills include typing, obviously, computer skills, 10-key, the ability to read and write and critically overanalyse anything given the chance. I am also very good at making coffee or if you like going to Tim's to get a cup. You say jump and I'll ask not only 'How high?' but, 'Would you like a double twist somersault with that?' And if I don't know how to do that, then I am very willing to learn.
Thank you for taking the time, or making someone take the time to read this.
Much obliged,

Hi Joe,
I just saw "Ripple Effect", finally, and i thought it was pretty great with the exception of one scene, to which my question relates;
Spoiler:
What was the purpose of including the near kiss scene with Carter and Martouf (other than for comedic effect with the asgard) rather than include one of Sam with Janet or one where she talks about her guilt over killing him, or even the one where they explain where Cassie is, and so on?
Why have that scene? And on a related topic, is she with pete or Jack (or anyone else for that matter) in that universe?
Other than that minor gripe/query, Ripple Effect kicked bum!

-JM, just saw pictures of an episode this season with Martouf! Would love to know if JR Bourne will ever come back for more guest spots in the future. Even if he isnt the Martouf from this universe. *cheesy grin, with batting eyelashes*
Thank you.

Spoiler for The Hive
Many of the fan here at Gateworld have asked the question why did the queen in the Hive resort to planting a spy in their midst when the keeper in Rising seemed to be able read Sumners mind?

Mr. Mallozzi,
Now that we've seen Ripple Effect (GREAT!!!!), can I assume that 'we' (our SGC) exchanged at least ONE physical item with each team that we 'sent back' to their homes ? I ask this because it's a well known 'Sci-Fi fact' that each such physical object will carry the 'quantum signature' of the universe it came from. [Good way to get in contact in the future.]

Thanks Joe for posting the scenes that were cut from Ripple Effect, they were very interesting and added something of the depth I thought was missing from the episode as screened.
They have however made me wonder who makes these sort of cuts (obviously not you as you expressed your disappointment) and on what criteria. I am at a complete loss to understand why that continuing soap opera, The Many Loves of Samantha Carter warrents mulitple mentions when the time can't even be spared to give the tiny comfort to Daniel that somewhere, in some universe his beloved Sha're survived. Is it because he is a man that his personal life is considered irrelevant? Or is it because such references back to early seasons really are forbidden now? It would seem to me that a conversation that brings up Sha're the whole starting point of Daniel's time on SG1 should at least be worth a fraction of the time spent winding up the shippers on a question you have no intention of answering.
In any case were these scenes actually filmed and edited out or were they cut before they made the final draft? I only ask as it would be a great thing to beg Ivon to include in the extras if they did indeed make it on to camera.

Hi Joe,
Why isn't the Daedalus and other ships crewed by the Navy? The Navy would be an excellent choice since they already have the training and expertise to run ships (granted this is a spaceship), know how to do damage control and fighter ops. Just wondering.
Thanks

Hi Joe!
Bit random and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but can the goa'uld take a wraith as a host?
Thanks!

I loved Ripple Effect and I've watched it twice - so I'm sorry if I missed the answer to this but how did the alternate team that created the bridge know they'd end up in a universe where Atlantis had a ZPM?

Are there any plans on either SG-1 or Atlantis finding a ZPM this or next season, or either the Daedalus or Odyssey getting Asgard weapons?

Hi, Joe!
Do you intend to introduce the deleted scenes from the season's 9 episodes on the DVD release? and thus having more than 42 minute versions of those particular episodes?
Thanks!
