beta and proton radiation could probably be stopped with tin foil

neutron radiation requires something containing a lot of hydrogen atoms and 24" of water is required to reduce flux 90% - neutrons whiz right thru dense material

gamma radiation requires 2"lead, 4" steel, 12" concrete, or 24" water to reduce flux 90%

Dense material is not effective at stopping neutrons. Neutrons are captured by metals inside a ship and become unstable isotope that emit high energy gamma. Neutrons are the gift that keep giving.

IMO if the wraith were smart and if the did get to the MW in any significant#'s they shouldn't go after straight out.
The MW is full of human populated planets that wouldn't be able to defend themselves against the Wraith and are out of the way enough that Earth either couldn't protect them or even find out about it right away.
Give them time to get their **** together, and possibley make some new ships, and produce enought warriors and such. Then come up with a plan for taking out earth.

if they were smart their hives would only move in the void between star systems, making them effectively untracable.

no need to. it's way too devastating, resource abusing and what not.

if the hive and cruiser's suckyness is because of their biotech, i'd dump biotech and just make a mechanic warship, if the result is better.

or i'd just forget hives alltogether and go with cruisers. they pack a better punch for their money
