So many hive ships are blowing up. Do the wraith need a super hive ship? Thoughts?

My impression was that there were two seperate sets of improvements. One to improve the drives themselves, and one to improve the shielding. Like if you make a golf cart that can now go 200 mph, you might also start armoring it up in case it hits anything at that speed.

Here's how it seems to work: The organic hull can only stand a limited amount time in hyperspace due to radiation. The ancient upgrades increased the speed of the hyperdrive, so equal time in hyperspace at faster speeds resulted in much greater distance travelled.

The Hive is just about as massive of a ship you can get. Just make it as advanced of a weapons platform (and shields) as the 304s and a throne chair and it would surpass just about anyship.

A wraith hive ship with shields, beaming tech, other upgrades would be unstoppable. If we capture another one, and have another ZPM, we could upgrade its hyperdrive, shields would protect the hull from radiation thus negating the need for pit stops. We could go back to the Tower planet and get their city ship's shield generators. Full ancient/asgard upgrades along with current high-impact energy weapons and additional asgard energy weapons. Only one of these could go up against a fleet of Ori ships with its atlantis-type impenetrable shields.

The Hive is as big, if not bigger than atlantis. We would need a ZPM in order to power shields and weapons, and that currently is our big problem.

The zpm need only power the shield or the cloak, which ever is active. Energy weapon power, along with hyperspace travel and sublight engines, artificial gravity etc are all using the hive's own power.

Well if the hive is upgraded then the power source would also have to be upgarded so I say 2 ZPMs would be needed for Shields and the other systems but of course replicating Atlantis's Shields would be hard to do

It wouldn't be replicating it. It would only be using the other city ship's shield system, which Rodney and Zelinka & Carter could handle.

I don't know, messing with Atlantis's shields seems way to big of a job for just those three plus who knows if it is comptable with the Wraith ship at all

I think you are underestimating the abilities of our people. I don't see how it could not be compatible, seems likely it would be a breeze to install.

It's interesting to note to that Atlantis apparently requires a fairly full ZPM just to go into hyperspace. A hive is many times it's volume and mass and yet never had a problem with this.

So the Wraith either have better hyperspace technology than the ancients, at least in terms of how much power it uses, or their reactors can pump out ZPM level energies, though obviously they'd be a lot bigger and thus less efficient than the ancient equivalent.

I've been saying this myself for a while. You don't even need to go that far though.

Just fill one of those giant caverns inside it with wall to wall Daedalus type Asguard shield generators and another one with powercores to power them and go plow the entire Ori fleet in an afternoon.

There's so much unused space ina hiveship the possabilities are staggering.

It's probably that the hive is able to produce an extraordinary amount of power through its organic components.

Daedalus can only stand against 1 Hive, thanks to Asgard shields.

With upgraded Asgard lasers, shields, Daedalus should be easily able to handle 6+ Hives at once, and 2-3 Aurora's.
