Elena listened to Marcus trying to comfort her, and realised that his words made sense.

"Yes. You're right Marcus. As soon as I'll have a chance to talk to Lance in privacy, I'll try to calm things down and make both of us forget everything of this."

She went silent and eyed Redd, evaluating the man she saw.

'Well, what gear can I suggest? Pistols aren't any serious weapon, and he won't be able to handle heavy assault rifle without any extensive training. Let's try something of average danger.'

She chose what to offer to her teammate in a second.

"Of course we can start with a sidearm. My weapon of choice for sidearm is MR-448 "SKIF", modern and reliable pistol, descendant of the legendary "PM", but I'd like to suggest to you something different. Why don't you try one of AEK-919 "KASHTAN" sub-machine guns instead of arming yourself with a pistol?"

Blue doesn’t strike me as a man to thrown a rookie into command. Tallon would have had some experience for the General and Colonel to consider giving him SG7.

Sighing, he looked at Foster, “There’s a vast difference between following orders and giving them out. When out there…” he trailed off when he heard footsteps and titled his head to see Lieutenant talon standing not far away with arms folded over his chest. Rubbing his temple, he knew he had a lot of work on his hands. Davis was more tolerant for him than Tallon currently.

I didn’t really expect you to come running in my direction so soon. So Lieutenant Ovcharenko and you are ready to get this started or I’m only to walk back in there to realise I’m wasting my time?

"I am," he replied through gritted teeth. It wasn't his fault Captain Oxford had the emotional range of a stiff wooden board, was it? Or didn't the man understand that people dealt with nerves in different ways? Lance shrugged to himself. Hopefully this would be the last he'd have to see of this guy.

He quickly added to his brief statement. "And I suspect Lieutenant Ovcharenko won't step out of line." Based on his conversation with her, if nothing else.

Travis studied Tallon for a brief second before nodding; “Very well,” he spoke up as he shifted his weight to his feet, heading towards, Lance, “Let’s get your team updated with the mission so everyone can leave and have some fun out there.

Reaching where Lieutenant Ovcharenko was seated, he looked at her then at the man next to her, before taking a seat. Looking at Lena, “Lieutenant, are you ready for this briefing?

((I suppose that Tallon returned with Oxford back to the table where she was))

Ovcharenko shifted her attention at Oxford, who has returned to her table with Tallon. His question was embarassing her, but such the attitude to her from the Captain was expected.

          'I won't ruin everything again, I swear!'

That idea made her carefully chose words which she was about to say.

"Yes, I am ready for this briefing. And..."

Elena swallowed her pride and addressed both officers.

"Comrade Captain, Comrade Lieutenant, I sincerely apologize for my behaviour that had place earlier today. It was caused by the sudden emotional shock wave that has now faded and I swear that I won't step out of line again."

((SR, I guess that my post is more lame than yours...))

Tim waved a “good bye” at Greg and then followed in the wake of the officers.
He stopped a few feet behind Oxford as he addressed the female Lieutenant, doing his best to if not be invisible so then at least make as little impression as possible at this point. ‘This mission sure could have begun better…’

He snapped a salute accompanied with a “Ma’am” and after having had an acknowledgment from her, Tim sat down next to his CO and waited for his next move.

Lance followed Travis back into the mess hall. He still wasn't sure he wanted to work with the man, but he was at least willing to try.

It seemed Lieutenant Ovcharenko shared similar sentiments, but Lance really wasn't in the mood for excuses either. "Another time, Ovcharenko. It's clear the captain wants to get right down to business. You can explain yourself, if you so desire, at another time."

He turned to Markus, who was now standing nearby. He wasn't sure when the man had popped in, but he didn't need to deal with another distraction. Not now. "I don't need to see you yet."

He rubbed at his temples. He was going to have a massive headache before the day was over; he was convinced of that. While he wasn't sure how things could get any worse, at this rate they would.

Lance had responded not exactly in a way Elena was awaiting, but, at least, he wasn't dressing her down... again.

"Aye, aye, comrade Lieutenant. I just wanted to clear things out a bit before we will start again."

She looked at Travis simultaneously giving Marcus a slight kick in his ankle under the table to make him move out of here faster and finished her sentence:

                  "So, I'm all ears now..."

He studied Lena as he gathered his thoughts on what he was planning in his head for the mission, but nodded at her apology, but said nothing. She had to be damn lucky that he was only a Captain; Major or higher ranked would have chewed her off, emotional shock or not. Satisfied that she was going to pay attention, he looked at Tallon just in time to catch the signs of early stress. If he’s acting like, Travis wonder, then how was he going lead the team.

Your planet, Perima” he looked at the two seriously, but he didn’t take a seat, “is one of Zues’s less defence fortresses. Your objective, your goal, whatever you want to call it: is to break into the computer mainframe and extract the date it contains, as much as you can gather. If you’re lucky, you might have more time to get more data otherwise, you have a limited amount of time to get all you need.

The Gate; as Lt Tallon know will have minimal defence, but that does not automatically mean no guards; with or without weapons. In order to keep you presences under the radar, I suggest that you use the zat. The use of P-90 is likely to draw attention; which is something your team does not want on their first run as SG-7.

Now hacking the mainframe is up to you and your team. With the help of Greg’s program, your extracting the data should be smooth. Once you have done that get the hell out of there ASAP. This mission might sound like a easy run, but keep in mind it’s not going to be. If you presence are found your likely to be under the enemy fire. Any Question?

Ovcharenko would nod from time to time while listening. She remembered every single word of the instructions to make sure nothing would slip away at some time. The task was set clear, and she was going to make this as it was required from her. Lena had enough of trouble for the first mission already. When captain finished, she had one question, though.

"I've one question, comrade Captain. I'm not too fond of these energy weapons, I had some training with them back at SGC, but still. Can I take some of russian SF stealth gear instead of a zat along with me, please? It delivers huge impact, even possible to pierce tank side armor at a close range, but produces no sound and flame when you shoot from it."

Lance's eyes flicked over to Captain Oxford. He wondered just how much the other officer knew about weapons, the P-90 in particular. He was used to this type of business--get in quick, get the job done, leave without anyone ever knowing you were there. Oxford didn't seem to be. Had the man heard of silencers?

"I think we'd be pretty safe sticking to suppressors, but carry a zat. Never know when you might want to disintegrate a body. We can switch between weapons as needed." Lance wasn't sure if he had overstepped his bounds with Oxford here. But it was his mission to lead, not the captain's.

Tim folded his arms in front of him on the table and bowed his head as if he studied his hands as he listened at the captain, a way to focus on the here and the now.

He looked up at the others, making sure he'd kept a neutral face, 'Going in undercover with a couple of LT's. What, are we babysitters now? He never mentioned a joint mission on the outside...'

He raised a brow, 'Armour-piercing ammo? Okay, so it's stealthy when fired but then not so much. It will sure draw attention to them if it's used.'

He listened as the questions came. He had noticed that Lena listened. It gave him the impression that the woman could be all ears when she chooses to be. But in the future, he prayed that she didn’t take the hard way of making herself listen. It wasn’t going to look good on her record in long term. Since she had spoken first, he would answer her, “You pick the weapons you feel you require for your mission. A use of a zat is a rough idea. Overall it boils down to what weapons you want to use.

Lieutenant, I agree,” he nodded, at Tallon, “As I just told Ovcharenko. You pick your weapons. What I have said is only a guide. If you choose to discard it is that’s entirely up to you.

This was one question he had been hoping would come. Looking at Tim then at the members of SG-7, he hoped that the two listened carefully since he was only going to say this once. While he didn’t mind repeating himself, he wasn’t going to say this the third time after he had told the group.

Foster, this is not a joint mission. Our part in this is to tuck ‘em in their mission nice and tight then we gate out to our planet to start our mission. We are in short escorting the two Lieutenants in their mission. As for search and rescue, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Scorpio frowned when she heard Tim's words, but kept herself from producing a feral growl.

'Search and rescue?! For whom are you holding me, I wonder? Now I'll do everything excellent on this mission, since that was a challenge and an insult to me!'

She nodded acknowledging, glad that she would be able to take along her favorite gear. She wielded VAL a lot on the Caucasus during the special operations, and PAB-9 rounds made sure that noone would notice her squad approaching, blowing limbs in pieces on the impact and piercing vests like a paper. It was a perfect stealth weapon.

Lance’s hand was curling up into a fist. Maybe Captain Oxford was more experienced, but his attitude was completely uncalled for. Preaching to a sniper about stealth. And all this talk of search and rescue. The urge to deck one or the other was strong.

“I’ll presume that that’s everything. And that we’re done now. Yes?” He waited around for Oxford’s response.
