Their poor attempt at creating sympathy or character growth for Chloe? And who the heck was that singer gyrating oddly on stage? Meh. That whole club scene and the friendzoned with Eli is too much of a soap-opera. I just don't care.
I ADORED the scenes between Young and O'Neill. Young did deserve some dressing down for his insubordination but I do think Young could do what Jack couldn't in having to play nice with the suits. So Jack was able to manipulate Young to taking the command O'Neill originally wanted him to have.
I loved Rush sticking it to the IOA. I loved finding out that only 20% of the ship is accessible because it really looks quite small right now when they can get to portions of the ship so quickly.
The over the top, immature soap-oper-y attempt at character conflict and drama I can do without.
I want to see more exploration and danger and less soap-oper-y BSG style drama.sigpicThanks to Oma-1 for the beautiful banner!

I am enjoying SGU. I like all the characters and appreciate that their development is happening in small increments.
Telford makes a wonderful nasty. I equate him with SG-1's marine Colonel Makepeace, only better developed and playing a much larger role in SGU. The fact that he "cut and run" at the end of the ep. comes off as cowardice, but, in reality, he had to protect the lives of the two others he had brought with him onto the ship. As was said earlier in the ep, if the ship had blown up, all the body swappers would have died. Retreat is not always a cowardly act, although try to tell that to the people you abandon. It still added to my overall dislike of the man, though. I am loving hating him.
I've seen a few theories about why Telford went to visit Young's wife. Here's a far out other possibility: If I were breaking up with my husband, and he came to me in another man's body, would I be able to have sex with the person standing before me? I'm thinking, not, but I have to admit, not a situation I've ever been in, so...
However, if I had also started cheating on my cheating husband, with, say, a certain Colonel, and he came to me in his body, but with the poor (irresistible) puppy dog personality of my ex, could I resist that combination? Hummm, can I resist peanut butter and chocolate? ;-)
I'm just saying, if Young and TJ can have an affair, and the wife knows about it, couldn't the wife have rebounded with Telford?
Yeah, yeah, I know: "All My Stargates"
Bring it on!
Okay, I admit that I only read the first 11 pages of posts before posting my comment. So I am not the only one who thinks there are possibly more than one love triangle going on. A Cherokee elder sitting with his grandchildren told them,
"In every life there is a terrible fight – a fight between two wolves.
One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity,
resentment, and deceit. The other is good: joy, serenity, humility,
confidence, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion."
A child asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder looked the child in the eye. "The one you feed."

Definately got the impression that wifey was cheating on Young with Telford. That was the first thing I thought watching the final scene. Very soap operaish.
The only issue with SGU that could be a problem for the shows future would be the fact that they have such a large cast yet tend to focus only on 3 or 4 people whom the writters think are the most popular. Maybe this is a bias since I can't stand the young guy Scott and would rather see a whole episode with Greer but honestly this last episode was the first without Scott but it still had the other 3 main people with the rest of the cast thrown in just so we don't forget they are around. I think this was the downfall of Enterprise (at least for me since I couldn't stand 2 of the 3 they kept shoving down our throat) and will be the downfall of SGU if they don't start diversifying the episodes with the rest of the cast.

Overall a good episode. Liked some of the character development. Loved the O'Neill scenes, liked the stuff with the Stargate and the plan to get home and I liked how Rush handled it.
Now, I do have two major concerns with this episode which I think others have voiced. I didn't have a problem with the club scene except: Chloe and Eli should not have been allowed off base without an escort or something. Not in the situation they are in, using other people's bodies. We established that when the Destiny enters/exits FTL that they return to their original bodies...what if that had happened when Eli was driving Chloe home? They should have had an escort driving them because they could easily have died.
The second issue I had was with Young having sex with his wife using Telford's body which to me has some serious ethical issues...we haven't established how they go about determining what can/can't be done with the bodies they inhabit. What happens if a body has a certain food allergy that the other person isn't used to? I hope they explore the ethical implications later on in the series. That is just my two cents.

Finally a good episode.
I loved the fact they reinforced that this isn't a democracy and that the idea that it's this weird group vote on what to do is idiotic. The military is in control it's a military mission and those on the base don't get a vote.
I also loved the breaking of the "it's powered by the sun" idea because that was a gigantic plothole as to why you can't just dial earth then and I liked that they solved it by saying it IS possible they just have no way to route the power.
Also bringing the scientist on board made sense and imho would of been done from day 1 with Daniel and Carter to help in ancient translation/tech stuff.

My biggest problem with them expending the weapons. Is what happenes if they get into a fight with an alien ship. We will need the drones!!!
Heck does anyone even know if the Destiny has drones?
Even little things like when Eli is checking himself out in the mirror. It's followed up with the club scenes, and his comments later about feeling good for being "noticed" by women, and realizing that it might be because he's in someone else's body.
and even if it would have been a truth, believe it or not, it'S something which happens when people are durnk
For me Rush sabotaging the mission was very predictable. But in a good way, since its better than having his motivations and how he did it all happening off-screen.
However I do have a few nitpicks, such as how easy it was to drain the Destiny's power, what time frame was we looking at there, less than a day?
"how much longer of this do we have to sit through. 9 hours of weapons fire is keeping me awake"
-The IOA sticking their noses in.
Young disobeyed a direct order. He should face court-martial for that! Oh and he hooked up with TJ in the past when she was in his COC he should face court-martial for that as well.
And while fratenization with TJ would be against regulations I don't think think its ground for a full court martial.
Young was actually more respectful than O'Neill towards Hammond. Young didn't yell.
Does anyone else think Eli's mom figured it out, at least on an instinctive/mom level if not a rational level? When he grabbed the right container of whatever that was, it just seemed like she had figured it out.
Do you think they are now having security on their bodies on the Destiny as they go to Earth with soldiers stationed to remove the stones after a certain amount of time to make sure Telford and/or somebody else can't take over again?
During his conversation with Telford, Rush said that "there is a right way to doing that" in response to Telford's remark that they need to get the crew back home.
I think that Rush already figured out a way to get back to Earth but, as the IOA suspects, he doesn't want to go back just yet.
BUT it would be a interesting twist if he does know how to do it.
No just that the Destiny Earth exchange is taking place at the Pentagon. Their are obvious reasons for this as Homeworld Security deals with outside of Earth. The SGC is just Stargate related
did anyone else think eli might have had a car accident, like last scene we saw him he was driving, then there was a switch, i imagine that disorientation would not be safe, but then luckily they must have got out the car before that
Its indeed a bit strange they would give intruding aliens access to the weapons system. But it was what the story needed.
Now, I do have two major concerns with this episode which I think others have voiced. I didn't have a problem with the club scene except: Chloe and Eli should not have been allowed off base without an escort or something. Not in the situation they are in, using other people's bodies.

I want to know why Chloe was able to go on the Earth mission at all. Was it just to go visit mommy? Go party with friends? Get drunk? She is all upset that people have betrayed her but what is she doing to the girl's body she is using? Falling down drunk? She still has no respect for anyone other than herself as she doesn't even respect the woman whose body she is using! Drown in her own sorrows. Ugh, this girl is the WORST!
The whole issue of body swapping is out of hand. Apparently there are no rules or regulations at the SGC, or Homeland, or whatever they are now calling it, as Destiny folks seem to be able to travel anywhere and engage in any sort of rude, improper behaviors.
What is going to happen when all 80something of the Destiny folks start visiting friends and relatives? Does Homeland have 80 different staff members willing to swap bodies for sex, drinking, drugs, whatever? Or is there a designated staff of 10 or so who will do the "other duties as assigned"? Who is watching these people to be sure they aren't divulging state secrets to enemy countries? Who is in charge of providing birth control to the body swappers? Who was watching Eli and Chloe? (apparently no one.) I feel like I'm watching General Hospital.
When all else fails, change channels.
