I suspect that RC was likely blond as a child, probably why it looks good on him.

I'm just going from my own experience. I was very blond and now my hair is about the same as RC's, it still gets lighter in summer if I'm out in the sun a lot. It's quite common for blond kids to get darker hair when they get older. My brother was a platinum blond when he was little, dark blond as a teen and now much darker than me. Except for the gray creeping in.
