Actually it true when you think about it. What drives a person to form friendships and romantic relationships. Its most people needs not to be alone.

As I believe happened in this case.
However, if someone does have a lot of company and companionship then there is no need to have that type of desperation...unless they are specifically seeking romantic interests...then...that might be the case.
