which leads me to the question of why someone who has fallen into enemy hands is allowed to be a key member of SG-1.

Given her connection to Adria, I think that it would be fair to say that Vala is more of a risk than most.

Can't green ya again, but excellent point. That moment really felt to me like: here are the writers putting words into Sam's mouth, rather than this is something Sam would actually say. Definitely a cringe moment for me.

Rather than *showing* us a reason Sam would say that, they just make her say it. Rather than giving us any reason for the team to reform with Cam in charge they just suddenly accept the patches.

I think of what Jack said about the Russian "and absolutely no hours of off world experience. I'm not trusting anyone under my command based on a slick resume" or words to that effect. As others have said, Mitchell's only qualifications seemed to be he was a pilot and they felt bad for him b/c he was shot down. Grrr.

But he was the pilot shot down saving them. of course--so were all the other pilots who shot down too.

yet I can't help but wonder what became of the dogfighting rule book. None of the gliders in that shot were actually in a dog fight...just a clash, LOL. (I've been watching too much history channel)

A modern jet can lock on and shoot down a target 45 miles away...why can't our alien hybrid gliders.

If they had made Mitchell under Sam, I could accept his introduction. But as leader of Sg-1, I expected more. The scenes in his hospital room were a bit much. Sg-1 owes him? Yes he was part of the mission, that allowed Sg-1 to save the world again, and maybe that earned him the right to be considered to be apart of a team at the SGC, but commander of SG-1, I don't think so. Grrr. End of rant, I am going to bed.

Luckily merlin was only in one and a half episodes. Poor Merlin...TPTB ruined my impression of what the wizard shoulda been.

I was thinking the same thing. We've got such a nice group here. We may be complainers but we have fun.
