That's probably true...I wonder if Jacob talked to Jack before he died...I would have loved to have seen that. Jack and Jacob always got on so well, and there was a real respect between them. Even if they didn't directly talk about Sam and Jack's relationship, I can imagine Jacob asking Jack to look after his little girl...

I think part of the brilliance that was Jacob Carter is that he knew he didn't need to talk to Jack. After observing the Sam/Jack dance first-hand for years, I'm pretty sure he knew all he had to do was push Sam towards Jack. Jack had been taking Sam's lead in the relationship since at least Divide & Conquer when she said they could leave it "in the room", and I believe Jack waited until she was with Pete -- seemingly having given up -- before getting serious with another woman. In fact, the very fact that he let her walk away from him and go to Pete indicates he was taking her lead. Jack also avoided any kind of physical contact, but especially anything even remotely intimate, unless she initiated it or her obvious need for contact overwhelmed him. So I'm pretty sure Jacob knew what Jack's reaction would be to being approached by a Sam ready to have a relationship with him. And so do we, because we saw it in the 'Always' scene.

As for 'taking care of his little girl', Jacob knew just how protective Jack already was of Sam (take Descent when he jumps to escort her, TDYK when he tries to prevent her from being questioned and gets shot, and Death Knell as three jump-to-mind examples). How could any words from Jacob make him more so? In effect, I think Jacob was asking Jack to take care of Sam with his words to Sam, knowing what would almost certainly happen if Sam followed his advice.

As I said in the hypothetical conversation between Jack and Hank, "Look, Hank, I inherited her from Jacob Carter....

its terrible work isn't it. you know on the subject of jacob. i actually think he was quite happy with the fact that sam was trying to move on at first. And then when he actually met pete. he knew that he just wasn't the man for his girl, and i expect he noticed the tension between sam and jack and decided to give them a little push every now and again. (thats just my rambling opinion)

Yes, I partly agree. I love the scene where Jacob meets Pete, and he just gives Sam this look, like "What are you thinking!?" and she looks so guilty. I think that's when Jacob got it, yeahsureyabetcha! But I do suspect he had doubts before then, if only because of the way Sam was so nervous about Pete meeting him...

I'm also amused in retrospect that Jacob claims Selmak liked Pete. Jacob is blatantly lying, because Selmak was in a coma since the end of Reckoning... I'm just saying....

yep that is so true...so who likes pete..jacob said 'he seems nice'but he didn't knew if he actually was nice(!) and selmak was in coma...i think that sam realised after that jacob met that she knew he wasn't the right man for her..and that's when she came to realisation (in my little universe) that she wanted to begin a realitionship with jack...

She went straight to Jack's house to talk to him after seeing Pete again, because marrying Pete was a horrible mistake and Jack was involved in the reason why (because he was her CO?! Sure... Or friend? You'd think Daniel or Teal'c would be better for that since they weren't both...)

and in moebius they are also allready so together...sometimes in moebius part 1 it looks like sam is ordering Jack..not the other way around...and they don't speak a word about him...why??? 'cause they already don't even remember him any more...okay that last line was a little bit weird...but i'm weird...uhmm where was i....i so can't concentrate right now...with a WoO kiss on the screen...
i think i let it here by...they are together in my world(and in some other worlds) and thats all what counts

I'm so glad I'm not the only who noticed that! I totally agree. Jack admits he (the general) can't go back and see the Cubs because Sam won't let him... Um.. who ranks who And once Sam agrees with him that they should go back to ancient Egypt to get the ZPM, Daniel gets all smug and clearly assumes they're going to ancient Egypt. Again, who's making the decision? .

Oh, yeah.... And there's that Alpha Male marking of territory by rubbing her hand during the memo pass... <sigh> Moebius, my second favorite episode to discuss....

Back on Broca Divide, I came on just now to comment that at the end of the scene in which Jack and Janet are looking at the infected, Jack starts to scratch his back. In the next scene, he's infected. Likewise, Sam started to scratch at the end of the scene right before she's infected. So that seems to be the sign of impending infection. For what its worth.
