Teacher in here don't even care if I show up. No mandatory attendance... so why should they care if I am even showing up but are with a laptop in class?

Last year in some classes I wasn't allowed a laptop..Often you see me with my laptop open and a notebook next to it. Laptop for fun and notebook for making...notes...

I'm known as an lazy student that they(the teachers) think don't pays a lot of attention...but still gets high grades anyway...my teachers don't care as long as I keep getting good grades

The only annoying thing is that in our lecture rooms we don't have places to plug my cable in so I can recharge the battery. That's really annoying when I have a three hour lecture My battery barely makes it through

I graduated 5 years ago (eek!) laptops were pretty much what everyone had at my college and my college was given some award about being "the most wired college in the USA" (the interwebs was everywhere) that being said I was a CS major and unless we were writing a program NONE of my teachers let me bring a laptop into class. Every one of my classes I had a notebook and pen. Man I would have loved to have GWed during that time! Then again my classes were small (2-15 students). I am pretty sure if the teacher knew I was sleeping, day dreaming, and doodling in class I am pretty sure they would have figured out I was not writing notes on the laptop
Also another mean thing, the math professors had an anti calculator thing going on. They wrote their own books thus they new the answers could all be done with simple calculations on paper...and you had to write out everything because that was the only way to solve it. I would turn in homework assignments and tests that were PAGES long. Mom may have bought at Ti-83 but its still sitting in a draw at my house darn it!

When *I* was in college, some people had heard of this thing called the World Wide Web and the school was talking about maybe putting in wires to connect all the campus's PCs one day, though no one really had any idea what that would accomplish or why you'd want your PC connected to other ones. I was considered pretty fortunate because I actually had a PC in my room, and I remember how excited I was when my parents splurged for Christmas and got me one that actually ran Windows instead of just DOS! Nobody had laptops. NOBODY. Anywhere (which is an exaggeration, but I'd never seen one and my Dad was a computer programmer so we saw things earlier than my friends generally). I still remember using the big card catalog, but if I wanted science or tech journals I had to borrow a friends car and drive to DePaul med school where we could use their library. Cause. You know, all the journals were hard copy. Unless you needed something old and had to look it up on microfiche...

Geez... Sounds like I'm joking. I'm not.

I graduated in 2004 so I think I was right there as everything switching over - mixed classes (that had fresh/sophs) - they tended to have laptops, but most of my class had desktops - now I don't think I've used a desktop in eons! LOL

I remember the first laptop I ever saw - my dad had it from work when I was a kid, probably around 1990/91. It was about 2 inches thick, and had a teeny tiny black and white screen, but it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen!
