Sam Carter/Jack O'Neill Ship Appreciation Thread

IMO many people do not like the Sam/Jack Ship because they feel it is a threat to the Daniel character and they feel it takes time away from the Daniel and Jack scenes.IMO there are many Daniel Fans who cannot stand the Sam character and would rather have had SG-1 be a Daniel/Jack buddy Show.IMO it's also alot of Young Male Viewers who only want to see things blow up and like how trashy Vala acts.IMO there not interested in Romance.TPTB seem to be gearing the Show towards this kind of Fan.IMO SG-1 was never meant to be about trashy characters and cheap insults.

This doesn't really have to do with ship, but it always amazes me the number of fans who constantly push the Daniel/Jack friendship (even if it's not slash) to the exclusion of their other two teammates. When push comes to shove, this is a show about a team. Each member of that team has a special realtionship with each of the other members, but they're all important.

I want to tell them that if they want to watch a "buddy" show, go watch Starsky & Hutch or Miami Vice or Simon & Simon or the original Battlestar Galactica. *This* is NOT a buddy show, and should never be because it would deny the very essence of the show. Any more than the show should be just Sam and Jack with nothing else going on. So don't try to make it into one!

Reads as rather snarky, but it could just be his sense of humour. That's the thing with text-interviews, they're open to interpretation coz you can't hear how they're being said (hopes that makes sense).

I know exactly what you mean. It really is impossible to tell. The 'forced' bit led me to think that Brad Wright was being condescending or snarky, but perhaps he just has an incredibly dry-or weird-sense of humour.

All the anti-s/j shippers I have ever met have been Jack/Daniel friendshippers, who believe that the s/j ship has detracted from j/d screen time. I really don't know any anti s/j shippers who are that way solely because they don't believe that romance should ever feature in a sci-fi show. As far as I can tell, most (at least modern) sci-fi has romantic relationships in it to a lesser or greater extent.

Jack: Washington. Hammond is retiring and I'm taking over his command of home land security.
Sam: This is a nightmare! What rat bas---- would do this to us? Was it Kinsey?
Jack: Believe it or not, not this time.

Sam:Then who?

That would be funny, if at the end of the episode, she hadn't decided to do the a$$-backwards thing and "move on" from Jack. No Shipper would have allowed that! If anything, the aliens were Shipper Cannibals, feeding on our torment. Or they were Pit's long lost family.

I'm in a good mood today...keeping up with coursework, which for me, is a novelty...and I'm saving up for season eight...I always knew I was gonna buy it, because if you compare it to season nine, season eight was top-notch!

That is too true! I can never think of a time when anyone supporting the S&J ship has said that none of the other relationships (friendship ones for example) have been any less important to the show.
Just because we want S&J to be together, doesnt mean that we dont want them to interact with anyone else. because that would be stupid.. lol.
And I agree Buc252; this is a show about a team.

Romance makes the show more human. Which is why I love SG so much! Theres so much about human relations, and how the team is together and stuff. Its a special show, because it focuses on stuff we can relate too, as well as the sci-fi aspect.


Maybe one day they'll give us a break
