Hello !

I need your help ! I’ve been searching for a picture from the New Ground episode (season 3) where Sam and Jack (or Amanda and Rick) are in cages and they’re holding hands through the bars.
Can’t find it in the Gateworld promo pictures but i’m sure i didn’t dream it up. I guess it’s a rare photo. Maybe one of the polaroid ones... Dunno.

I doubt it’s a manip.

Edit : Okay, I saw a picture on twitter that may be the one i remembered... wrong apparently as they’re not holding hands (it’s just that it may look that way until you pay more attention and zoom in). That or another picture exists lol (but it’s likely i did remember things wrong).

Don't feel bad. After you posted that, I scoured the internet trying to find "that" photo as well. Either it's hidden in the furtherest reaches of time and space, or we're suffering from a contagious delusion...

Might be a delusion from my part. Someone posted a picture on twitter and in the picture, their hands are close, but there is no handholding (not even attempted). Maybe my mind remembered handholding because their hands are almost touching.

Rewatched Gemini today. The closing scene, where Sam focuses on sciencing, almost trying to ignore Tealc and Jack. Hit me hard. I can imagine she is ashamed, mad at herself, distancing from them, about her handling the whole RepliCarter situation. Would need a lot of effort and comforting from Jack to make her forget... Fic rec, anyone?

Did you check RDA's website, Photo Gallery > Stargate SG-1 > Season 3. There is one of Sam, Jack and Daniel in cages. It may not be the same picture but it's different from the one in promo photos portion of New Ground in the gallery here.

I think it would be interesting/awkward if they had a discussion about what started the whole thing : Jack’s subtle order to leave Fifth behind. I mean, it was Sam who promised Fifth to take him with them. But maybe she felt she had to follow her superior/CO’s order in the end... hence betraying Fifth (Sam and Jonas sure weren’t in agreement with Jack at that time while Jack seemed desperate to make them understand it was the right thing to do). It’s possible Jack actually feels responsible for what happened to Sam (torture) and her evil double creation. They never told us unfortunately. Though Jack always told Sam that Replicarter wasn’t her fault... and that he could be blamed too for what happened. So, based on this... it’s likely he feels the same about what started it all back in season 6.

You're right that it started with leaving Fifth behind... but Gemini is about RepliCarter and about Sam's failure. Sam thinks she knows "herself" but it turns out she actually does not, or maybe through RepliCarter she discovers a hidden side of herself and is not happy about it... as a result she fails her teammates, Jack and SGC who trusted her, and that must be pretty heavy on her mind... how hard it would be to win their trust back?
I wonder if she talked to Jack later about the way Fifth trained RepliCarter, made her kill Jack...

Man, this brought back so many memories of the MOP campaign! That was such an exciting time!

Yes. But what happened with Replicarter is deeply connected with Sam « betraying » Fifth way back then. Sam seems to believe her double learned deception from what Fifth perceived Sam to be like after they/she left him behind.

Sam seems to think it’s her fault, even if she had to follow Jack’s lead because he was the leader.

I think she must be blaming herself because she was the one who promised something to Fifth without knowing if she could furfill that promise (and technically, based on her position, taking this decision before having the chance to talk with Jack first was probably a pretty careless move... but she was isolated in Fifth’s mind and she probably felt she had to find something on the spot so they could have a chance to escape... maybe she would have taken Fifth along if Jack hadn’t been the leader, or if she wasn’t military... her, Daniel, Jonas... they were a lot less hostile to replicators than Jack was... who always believed they were nothing but souless murder tools... the end of the Reese episode showed us this too... Daniel was incredibly angry when Jack shot Reese... to the point of calling Jack names).

In a way, Jack allowing Replicarter in was the opposite situation. He allowed Sam to work with her. He probably fought against himself/his instincts as he did so (and maybe he did because it was about Sam... like I said, it’s probable he feels guilty too). And in the end, it ended badly too.
