It's been quite a RL-kicking-my-butt week! I missed all but the opening of Valenship because my cat got sick

Fluffy is 12 yrs old and has some medical issues anyway, but all of those are under control. She stopped eating sometime @ Thursday but was sleeping on my bed a lot and I didn't see her not eating. I noticed Friday night, and by Saturday, I texted the vet I work for and he said to bring her in. Long story short: she was given fluids and meds and was ok Sunday and back to normal by Tuesday

, then the rest of the week was a mindless blur of work-home-chores-sleep.

Of course we don't mind -questions like this spark more S/J discussion, which we love.

I read a fic about what happens to Sam during the year in Continuum when she was on her own. She is working in a garage when a boy happens by, and thereafter keeps coming by. He finally gets up enough nerve to talk to her. It's Charlie, and he lives with his father. At some point, Sam and Jack meet. It turns out that the Sam in their reality was not only the heroic astronaut who died when the shuttle crashed, but she was also Jack's wife and Charlie's mother. I don't recall if that fic was finished, but where it ended it had Sam going back to help with the invasion.

I'd love to see an S/J fic where O'Neill tells Martouf/Lantash to back off.

He does tell him to back off, to a certain extent, in "Jolinar's Memories" in Season 3.

i don't know 'how' the confirmation could be ruined, other than it *not* happening.

i really can't imagine it being ruined with s/j. the only thing i can imagine being THE worst is it not happening. if anything, amanda and rick would lift up any writing short-comings...

It's true. CSI just completely ruined my ship. And as bad as it sounds, I'd prefer a character death in my ship, rather than separation/divorce. It sounds horrible, but I prefer my ships to be epic, not epic duds. Grrrr...

I nominate Annerb, her "You're my destination" fic is exactly what I imagine might have happened in canon and, whoo boy, it's hot (in a Mr Darcy in pride and prejudice kind of way, not a whips and handcuffs 50 Shades kind of way lol).

There has been plenty of Beneath the Surface stories, I always thought it would be interesting of there was an "Above the Surface" AU...
Administrator Calder realizes they would be of greater use as citizens above rather than slaves below. So they are mind wiped and become Dr. Thera, brilliant scientist who works on the technology to strengthen the shielded dome, Dr. Carlin, historian and teacher, Jonah ex-military strategist who works with security of the planet.
Dr. Thera is presenting at a conference in which Jonah is providing security, their eyes meet and "click" they just know they are meant to be together.

Oh gosh, when are you going to write this??? I would SO read it...

Yeah, I would really hate that. I mean, I hated it with a flaming intensity when they did that with Sam/Martouf/Lantash in Ripple Effects (I'm a multishipper). Don't ever ever do that to any pairing. It's just cruel to the shippers.

Well if you're a multishipper you're bound to be disappointed one way or the other e.g. Sam/Jack and Sam/ Martouf/Lantash are mutually exclusive: a happy ending for one ship means automatically a nasty ending for another; that's why my OTP is Sam/Jack

I guess I would really dislike it if a show would show an established pairing breaking up/divorcing, but I'm not that big of a shipper for any pairing other than S/J. I mean, I sometimes like a pairing on TV but none of them grip me so much as S/J.

There are some exceptions, for example, the Booth/Bones pairing in Bones simply because it's been handled so badly! Now I kinda wish they would just get it over with since there is no chemistry/love left between them and it's like they're just going through the motions.

Back in Buffy I really liked the Buffy/Angel pairing but the way they separated made (even upon rewatching) sense, since they just couldn't be together. I accepted it and moved on, same with Buffy's later relationships. They were all handled well, or at least not badly. Then again, like I said, I'm not that big of a shipper.

However, in the case of Sam/Jack I would hate it if they pulled a "it didn't work out", mostly because they never showed them getting/being together in the first place! Then it's just not believable that it didn't work out! They can't really break up if they were never shown to be together and any issues that came with a romantic involvement would have remained unseen too, making it even more incredulous if TPTB would pull a stunt like that in the future.

That's one my reasons I don't need on-screen confirmation; TPTB would simply screw it up and/or not do it justice, as has happened in so many television relationships. Especially in these days (show) writers seem incapable of making relationships work or look credible on screen, particularly if there has been 'a lot'* of UST prior to them getting together.


* That's kind of relative and can be anything from weeks to years, although I don't think there's quite as much as S/J have so in their case it would be an understatement...

If you haven't read them, you should really read all of Annerb's DC Series.

Amber, you can link T rated fics, just not M or NC17 stuff.

I think a Shipper should read all Annerb's S/J fics. We have many many great writers but I'll admit Annerb's my favourite S/J writer. She gives them such a true voice in her fics that they are definitely worth the read.
