Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping Discussion/Appreciation

No, no, no ! Not " The lion sleeps tonight". It doesn't work for me ChopinGal ! In French the song is "The lion died tonight". So sad ! I don't want anything bad to happen to Sam. Well, maybe a little but just for the sake of Sam's Whumpers Anonymous.

ROTFLOL ... aw heck, back to the drawing board! Good grief ... I wasn't looking to have the lion DIE!

It's okay ... some other Samandans are coming up with Sam songs too!

Now, the one episode I wanted to see but was never written would have been Jack O'Neill walking up to Sam Carter's front door (rather than what was previously written for you-know-who) and escorting her to an SGC going-away party for Hammond. It would be a really great catered affair and Janet and everyone would be there to celebrate Hammond. (Yes, Janet would have been severely injured in Heroes but would have survived.) Jack, a man of few words, would rise to the occasion and deliver a socko going-away speech. After the toasts and dinner, the band would play "The Lady in Red" and Jack would have asked Sam to dance. She, of course, looking stunning in a really sharp red strapless cocktail dress (no! not the same dress from the other eppie!) and he in his dress blues. Don't ask me why Sam would not be in her dress blues either. She just couldn't be ... not if my favorite song was to be played!

My version would have been a lovely, lovely scene. Maybe I'll have to write it! Huh, Sal?!

On that note, here's one for you ... how many fanfics can we name that include a scene of Jack dancing with Sam?! I know Astro has done a beautiful early story ... Dancing with an Angel, I believe. Any others you can think of?! I wouldn't want to be accused of plagiarizing someone else's fantasy!

hey deepspace! I'll try and catch you up, but i haven't been around heaps either! here goes;
1. we got a motto!!! as you noticed it's 'hic comitas regit', meaning 'here kindness reigns'. pretty, huh?
2. we're voting on a flag...so go vote! now! go!
3. Everyone went through a short poem frenzy , the scribes of samanda were just churning 'em out - you were mentioned in at least two, by the way!
3. lots of discussion on season nine, but i haven't been reading much of that coz i haven't seen it yet and i'm trying to reserve judgement til i have. feedback has been mixed, makes for interesting discussions.
4. links to some great new AT interviews have been posted, we'll have to find 'em for you...
5. there's been a massive population boost!!! It seems the temporary absence of our Queen has been causing quite a stir.
6. again with the lots of discussion about season nine - it's been a hot topic, as you'd imagine, so thats pretty much been dominating the board.
7. The gents have been descending into the gutter with several comments on the likelihood of seeing AT in a bikini sometime in the near future - methinks they're going to be disappointed!
8. there's been plenty of reports from recent cons, complete with video clips of amanda speaking at the panel and pretty pics...again, i'll try and find them for you...
9. umm...umm...we're currently trying to figure out the definite sam phrase and guessing at what song best suits Sam and Amanda.
10. There's was lots of discussion about the mysterious disappearance of one the the Kingdom's royal page's. What with the Queen's birthdau coming up soon and all, we were starting to get quite worried! In other words, we missed you silly!!!

Littlest Page was so excited about helping out her Royal Twin that she's posted this twice! LOL!

But, her heart was in the right place ... and may I award a Royal Medal to Littlest Page for exemplifying our motto, Hic Comitas Regit. She's taken the time to summarize the main events at the thread for her returning Samandan!

You know, Sam doesn't actually say "Holy Hannah" very often. In fact, I can only think of her saying it once in eight seasons (anyone know how often she has actually said it?). I believe it's more of a Jacob phrase.

i agree. outside the lines is very good. i just read it this morning.
and the ship, it's not overwhelming. in fact, just really the ending other than a 'i never told him how i felt' moment

Regarding a song for Sam ... isn't there a fairly recent pop song called Wonder Woman?! I saw a Sam musicvideo with that as background and the words seemed to fit!

Sam only said it once that I can think of, but I remember some strange alien guy saying something like, "You're a military officer, a scholar, and from what I see a fairly good mechanic." and she said, "And I make a mean shouffle" (sorry can't spell that to save my life *blush*)

I like Sam for a multitude of reasons...but primarily because she is a fallible human being who can do extraordinary things.

And I love how Amanda describes her...she's the perfect combination of Jack and Daniel...and the struggle for Sam is always which side do I go with, the military training side or the philosophical side?

Basically I love her because she's a super hero who's saved the galaxy more times than I've counted (and to my knowledge has yet to win a CMOH *cough*)...and yet she is a regular person like you or me.

wow Uber . Your description of Sam is what I think of her as well. But may I add to that. What I like about her is her lovely sense of humor and her tenderness. I love it when she giggles and smiles and her tears brings me to tears as well. One can see her inner beauty. Being a soldier and a scientist has not destroyed that. She is all female and can kicka$$. Just a very well rounded person IMO.

The thing I liked about Holy Hannah was the fact that I remember growing up and hearing my grandmother say stuff like this. The thing I found so utterly amusing is that we hear Jack cuss all the time, but the first time Sam gets unnerved she shouts Holy Hannah... she was just so young and innocent back then. Ah how things have changed, she's definitely been corrupted by her CO. I also loved it when we met Jacob that he said Holy Hannah too. It really shows you that it was a family expression that Sam heard alot as a child.

So, although Sam doesn't say it often... I still think of a Carter when I hear it.

It must be a Carter thing. My mother's family name is Carter and they always seemed to have strange expressions.

I recently had...uh...issues with my computer and reinstalled Windows. I unfortunately lost all of my installed codecs.

Now I went and wanted to watch the Stuck trailer...but instead of seeing it, I'm hearing the audio for six seconds and seeing nothing. Then it stops.

Could any wise Samandan lend a helping hand here? Need assistance ASAP!

Also, I'm looking for video clips with AMANDA. Not Sam clips. Amanda clips. So do any of you have video clips of her at conventions? From meeting her or just convention clips of her just being herself and hamming it up?

PLEASE tell me as I need to know by Friday at the latest...

Yes, I keep wishing AT's agent could find her better material. I've said it before, AT is Canada's hidden treasure. I agree that she gives 110% to whatever she does and it shows! So seeing her in this was fun, especially with Adrian Paul! Loved the bathtub scene! Lida, check out Amazon.com or a neighborhood video/dvd rental store. The film's available.

Did anyone notice that the blind neighbor/friend was Kirsten Robek, another fine Canadian actor who played the ill-fated Lieutenant Astor in Divide and Conquer.

Um, I've got a Sam vid to a song "Not Just a Pretty Face" (I think that's the title) by... I have no idea. But it's great... "not just a pretty face... she's got everything it takes..." I think it fits pretty well.

Strix, I sure agree with you about this vid. With all the talk about AT/Sam music I watched it again last nite and got lots of grins.

No cons, but I think I have stored the Women in Film and Video clips that MajorSam put up ages ago ... when AT hosted that event. I'm not at home but could check later ... do you want that lengthy kind of file? Or just short clips?

Yeah, it's great to go back and look at these again! They are really well done ... the "Wonder Woman" by Caty is on Astro's list too. And "Fireman Sam" is funny.

But, I agree, the "Not Just Another Pretty Face" really seems to fit! I still LOL when it comes to "mother of three" and Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c appear on the screen! Ain't it the truth?!
