I won't get into the Stanley Cup thing since I figure I win both ways. My Dad's family lives in BC and Alberta and I used to live in Boston and love the place. Soooo....as long as they play a good hockey I'm happy whoever wins.
On another note I just have to share this. Today was a good day and I'll tell you why. I work at a place that is on the inner harbor of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee. We have a green roof and for reasons I will never understand a mallard duck uses it to lay her eggs and hatch them. This roof is a good 30 feet above the ground. When the ducklings hatch and get large enough, Mom moves the whole family to the lake. She flies down to the ground and encourages her offspring to "jump-glide" down from the roof to the ground and they do it. It is very strange to watch. Anyway, this year Mom got her crew together on the ground and began her march to the lake when three of her babies encountered a sewer grate and fell in. Mom had to move on there was no way they were going to get out. But don't despair my observant boss, who was watching, heard the little ones and with the help of a 4 foot crowbar for leverage and 2 strong women and one strong guy they got the grate off and we rescued our ducklings. Unfortunately, Mom had moved on up the river. But two of our boat crew got the zodiac out and with our ducklings went up the river in search of Mom. Sad to say after 2 hours they couldn't find her. Fortunately, the local Humane society has a wild life rescue section and they took the ducklings and will raise them up and release them back into the wild when they are big enough. The story doesn't end there. An email went out and the folks at work donated $46 to the Humane society to support their work in rehabilitating injured or abandoned animals. What was funny before we transported them we put a dish in the box with water. They used it as their own private swimming pool. They were so cute.
