The volume is very bad, I can't understand what Michael said, I think he is saying he had to play another character at first, right?

He was talking about the fact that Erica has been the love interest of other charactors whenever they have worked together in the past (Stargate and Smallville) and now she has to settle for him. Well I wouldn't call that settling. He is WAY HOTTER than her past love interests.
