I saw Atlantis first before SG-1 so imagine my surprise when I saw them all looking so young!
I did too!!! I feel like I missed so many comments about SG1 and jokes because I didn't get the connection, but now that I've seen SG1 I started to go back and rewatch Atlantis. I feel like I'm watching it with new eyes and I can't believe how many small quips I missed the first time around. The replicators seem more believable and Sheppard's jump through time makes sense after seeing SG-1 do it first
I luv this episode "Hathor". I regret that the writers decided Egeria makes more sense (although, I suppose she does). But I liked the scene where Hathor explains that by a gou'ald queen inhabiting a female of the species they want to use as hosts, and having sex with a male of that species, that is where she "gets the life code" to make her children compatible with that species. And Daniel's almost snapping out of her aphrodisiac as he realizes she wants his DNA to produce more gou'alds. His shock after being forced to mate with her. And, of course, as you guys have mentioned the women being the heroes of the base.
It is especially great to see Janet in action. If you watch closely, the scene almost mirrors Felger's and Coombs' covert trek through the halls of a gou'ald ship to rescue SG-1: Janet is in combat mode as she squats and takes positions flat against the wall while Sam walks at normal readiness.
(I am not criticizing Sam, just that battle ready is second nature to her whereas Janet is gung-ho like "I gotta remember and put my basic training to work.
I get to kick some az*!")

One of the issues I have with Hathor is that it seems unlikely she can pinpoint the exact location of the Stargate all the way from Mexico and the fact that TPTB again gloss over the fact a guy was basically raped (Daniel, just like Jack was the victim of 'alien date rape' in Brief Candle).
Not to mention that Hammond just allowed her entry to the mountain!
Unmade Plans (WIP: 11/20): Sam's life takes a turn in an unexpected direction when she's faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The decision to keep the baby and raise it on her own will alter her life forever. Relationships are put to the test, especially the one between her and Jack. She doesn't know what to expect from him and he surprises her at every turn.
On FFnet or AO3
My S/J fics can be found on FFnet and AO3. I also tweet and tumble about the ship and my writing/stories.

As to Hammond just allowing her entry into the mountain, at the time, they wanted to know what was going on.

Yes, I understand that but would it have killed him to go up to the surface to check out this crazy lady's stories? You'd think a two-star general would know better than to allow her access to a highly classified base.

I think it's just a major screw up from the writers considering that base has armed military folks patrolling the surface. Most of them probably have no idea what's inside and their only job is to turn away people without proper clearance. Doubt they would call down all the way to Hammond every time unauthorized people show up, especially with crazy stories and talking in the third person about themselves.

I wish they had explained how she got all the way from Mexico to the SGC in that outfit that she was wearing without triggering alarms everywhere with authorities.

lol there's no way she wouldn't have been stopped by someone.

This bothers me too, as it also did with Brief Candle (had a good rant about it on my LJ during the rewatch of that ep lol).

And this, YES. It just doesn't make any sense to let her in, no questions asked!

Ah, Season One and it's ever-present plot-holes!
