Alright, who here agrees the Eye devices used by Anubis to power the Arc weapon were ether prototype or predecessor ZPM devices? I want to get it straight for the fleets. Mainly because if they are then I doubt those six were all that there were.

If you properly shield the reactor and don't toss the waste out, yes.

I would say they're crystals maintaining a self-contained region of subspace. Like a ZPM, except they don't hold planet-shattering energies.

Plus, i'd say they're just the container and can not draw power on their own

With further tuning and technical understanding the almost physical crystaline structure of a shield can be designed to channel weapons fire through itself harmlessly and deflected completely or in the case of the Ori, absorbed. What about this? Essentially turning a shield into a conduit with enough understanding.

I'd rather compare a shield generator to an electromagnet:

If you toss something electromagnetic (ie, a piece of iron) at an electromagnet, you get induction. A shield is continuously in "drain" mode, requiring energy to be sustained. However, it would be possible to make the shield frequency EXACTLY match incoming weaponsfire, where the process reverses and the shield gets more energetic rather than less. the excess energy can't be sustained by the shield and basically "induces" into the generator, producing power.


I believe it's the precise method used by pretty much every advanced race for powersources. IE, a naquahdah generator is surrounded by a shield that only gets stronger when it's bombarded by fissioning Naquahdah.

The reason it's not used for combat applications: A shield would not have a perfectly clean "energy signature". it would contain white noise, so to speak, and so you can never truly match incoming weapons fire. Well, unless you happen to be an ascended being. the Ori ships likely had shields that did a similar thing, making the incoming weaponsfire induce on the shield generator, vastly reducing the needed energy to sustain the shields.

the Asgard probably duplicated the Ori's own beam sattelite and used the same trick on the Ori ships.

They out numbered the Ancient warfleet five to one, but they were still losing and being pushed back at every turn. Until they captured three ZPM's. They used the energy to grow more ships rapidly, and then they outnumbered the Ancients ten to one.

We came up with them during a discussion like 6 months ago, I rated it 20 to one but it got cut down to 10 by Imhotep.

Besides we need a number at some point. An official one will never be given.

I am going to be doing some math involving ship numbers in Stargate. Some will be guestimations. I am doing this for the number of Ha'tak that could exist currently in the MW galaxy, the number of Auroa and Hiveships present during the W/A war, and perhaps some Asgard calculations. Definitely some math for the Houjin.
