The hole on the front of your boat Is that the way in and out, or a bit you haven't modelled yet?

i dont think many people have thought to give a carrier a cloaking device so it can spam out fighters and the enemy cant track it, just a thought

They could easily track the position the fighters are appearing from.. And the fighters need a way to find the carrier again, so if one is captured...

i see the flaw and stand corrected, they only way a cloak would work would be if the ship was hidden in a fleet or in an asteroid belt.

contrary to popular belief, asteroid belts are REALLY thin.

You could take a 1km sphere, and set it on a course for Jupiter straight through the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, and it would very likely not hit an asteroid AT ALL.

Typical sci-fi asteroid fields don't exist unless it's 10 seconds after a major collision.

how would you protect a carrier? i cant seem to think of a way that would allow it to roam free and still be protected with out escorts

Like you said, use escorts. Frigates, destroyers, cruisers, battleships, etc.

not sure, probably from the underside.

Nowadays? Detecting enemies beyond the horizon, shooting down enemy planes trying detect you, protecting your planes, the very rare attack on enemy ships, attacks on ground targets, etc.

In space? There's virtually no point to them.

just thought Ryan created a lantean style probe a while back with a similar tech, stealth probe from RJB.
