Wouldn't happen that way - it's a military base (well 2 bases actually) and Police do not stakeout military bases as they generally have no jurisdiction on the base, they have to liaise with the military. The guards would immediately report it and check with the Police Department and follow it up from there. Pete would immediately be caught out and disciplined.

No, I'm not misunderstanding. Anyone lurking about a top secret military facility especially just off base would be approached exactly as I said. For Pete's "stake out" to be effective he would need to be in sight of the base and therefore security would detect him and tag him as a possible threat and take appropriate action. Cheyenne Mountain in Stargate is not only a NORAD base but an ultra top secret SGC base and the security arrangements would reflect that.

It's well written and very good.

I can stand out of "our universe" character if you can make me believe it. I just have to be able to believe that in some universe, somewhere, they could do this. Just not in ours. LOL If that makes any sense.

Eh, can't say I really enjoyed the latest addition as much as I hoped that I would. It was pretty light on S/J and at times I either had a hard time following what was going on or found that my eyes were starting to glaze over. Not a bad story or anything, just not for me I guess...

I appreciate those who wait for stories to be completed. I have been burned myself with Unresolved Fanfiction Disorder UFD!!! BUT, in Annerb's case she has a record of delivering on the ending. Sometimes it takes months (years). In the case of DHAtW I am reading it and I think it's worth it. BTW it's the kind of story that I will have to read at least twice to appreciate the subtleties and nuances. Unlike Jack O'Neill it's complex!!! *giggle*
