see, for me, i'm a sam fan, i've learned to accept that people love to tear my favorite character to bits, diss her and write her like crap. no big deal. they write it i don't have to read it.

The time it takes to 'properly' break a ship in preference to another, and keeping hte character even close to canon is waaay more than the instant gratification a reader or author gets from instant shipping

ITA, the fic can be great but then there's just this one single line that bashes a character and the whole fic is ruined for me. I like to read Mckay/Sheppard but I don't understand why some writers won't simply ignore the McKay/Keller relationship from canon.

Maybe it's just me, but it's so difficult to find good adventure stories with a good amount of humor.

You should be safe with many of her stories, since they are more team-based or individual-based than ship stories (though there are a few of those there). I was just browsing through her story site to see what I could see, and she has a list of Adventure stories separated from a lot of the others. Look under her "Emerald City" link on one of her posts and it will go right to her story site.

She has one that's related to the Wizard of Oz that's really good, but I don't recall the title right off hand. The stories are listed alphabetically and have good synopses describing them.

Sam's gift at the end was brilliant Overall it was very good.

One quibble. i can't see Daniel saying "Where's a nice snake invasion when you need one?" Like... it's his style, but snake invasion? that's really the only part that kinda threw me off but the rest of it was great

I'd recommend LJ for your posting (and reading, really) habits. The overall audience there is much more receptive of such concepts than the overall audience on ff.net. And I don't mean just S/J part of it, either.

But yeah. Some of my personal favorite authors - and the most read ones - do reality wonderfully, while still retaining the romantic aspect.
For me, the latter can hardly ever be achieved without the former. Not in a way I'd enjoy it anyway.

Erm. I guess I've noticed that. But... Um... would you believe I'm still exploring how you navigate LJ?

anyway, moving onward... All this ship/anti ship makes me feel like we need an Anti-OTP society. Just a belief that there is no OTP, and all should be free to ship (or not ship) the way they like. Sam/Thor, woo!
