*hugs MR* I think jury service sucks whether you get a case or not. A friend of mine just had it and had 10 days of a really unpleasant case to deal with. I guess the very nature of the crown court means that cases are either going to be complex or horrible or both, and sometimes long, but the waiting around with nothing to do sucks too
I got a case, going to last until at least Thursday. There just seems to be a lot of unnecessary to-ing and fro-ing (yes, I know it all probably happens for a reason) but making us wait around for an hour this afternoon and then calling us up 3 flights of stairs just to tell us we are dismissed for the day seems a little silly to me.
On the plus side I did get a 2 hour lunch break and have tomorrow afternoon off as well

Thank you ladygris for my lovely sig and avi
my computer is in the shop The hinge right above the power plug in place has broken and the power cord won't stay plugged in enough to give it juice. I'm hoping that it costs under 300 but I'm not terribly optimistic. So, I'm using an ancient laptop of my husband's, and it does not have Photoshop! Argh! Already going through withdrawal!
It shouldn't be that bad. If there is a part available - it is a little time consuming but should be a relatively easy type of fix. No real electronics involved. (BTW - before I retired, I use to be a network engineer and co-ran an IT group for years)!
it depends on if they have to replace the entire bottom of the laptop - because of the way the screws are just anchored in plastic...if the plastic has gotten broken around the screw...then it's going to be pricey. If not, then it should be a quick fix.
Oooh lovely Jumble. I see a lot of insipiration from that picture there.
MR Urgh, jury service. Charles did it at the Old Bailey once. He had two cases - the first was a mistrial after the first day because one of the other jurors was seen talking to the defendant. and the other was mistrial because, during evidence, one of the witnesses referred to the defendent as being convicted of another crime that he had, in fact, not yet gone to trial for. All in all I think his brush with issuing justice was just as frustrating.
Fortunately, I can't be called for jury service because of my job My father did sit on a jury a long time ago - it was a murder trial and there was a gang of six on trial. They had to find them not guilty because nobody could be sure which one actually did it
Re-posting in case anyone missed it, and to remind those that didn't that it's only ten days away.........
MARTINMAS 2013 THEME
The daily colours for 2011 turned out really great, as did the decade theme for 2012, so we felt we really needed to come up with something that wood stir everyone’s imagination and encourage you all to make some pretties for 2013. One drunken night during Nad’s visit here last August, I (foolishly) mentioned that we wood soon have to start thinking about a theme for Martinmas. “Hippy Christmas Songs!”, she said, making several suggestions that had us falling about giggling
Well only 1/2 way done with the dentist. Turns out because the replacement of a crown in on the last tooth - he can't scan it to make it himself. Coming back next week to get the one made from a lab put in to replace the temp. But it was realitively painless. And the last one lasted 40+ years so it I last that long for the new one - I would be happy and very very very old.
