This afternoon I found myself watching the 1978 animated version of Lord of the Rings – I had it on tape years ago, long before the movie trilogy was made.

I remember being very disappointed that the animated version only covered the first half of the story, and searched for years after for any indication that the sequel had been made – which it never has

The animated Aragorn was voiced by John Hurt, and was incredibly ugly! Look at the difference………..

Mind you, the animated black riders and Orcs were absolutely terrifying – I can’t believe I let Jo and Rob watch that when they were about 7 and 10
