The secrets on how to make artwork of the Sam/Jack ship family thread
I wuv selective coloring. Rarely make something without it.
Great siggie Amanda
Jumble - The drop down menu gives you the option to choose what color you wanna work with, which is why it's called selective coloring. If you choose red from the menu, when you move the sliders it will only affect the red color in the original pic. The same goes for the yellows, blues, blacks... etc. If the original pic doesn't have any green in it, moving those sliders won't change anything. Hope that explains it.
I've noticed! Every time I try to put those numbers you give us into something else (don't ask me where ) and of course it doesn't turn out as you said it should look like.

Ah, see now it makes sense I'd sort of started to think along those line, but I was still getting frustrated not knowing details.

Thanks
Now I just need to make something without following a tut
Yes! That's the one, thanks! *hugs* That was the reason I wanted to learn photoshop in the first place because there were so many icon tuts for it Hopefully I'll be able to learn something from them

This is great.
Where else can you put those numbers?
When it comes to selective coloring you can't follow a tut exactly. If the original pics are different the result will be different. Part of the learning process is adapting the tuts to work for your pics.
Edit- Jumble do you happen to have that link to the one Live journal page that had a MASSIVE amount of tuts for icons? I think most of them were for photoshop *is really starting to like photoshop now*

OMG that's so cool! There are some great artists on GW and Luci's one of them. You'll learn loads from her tuts.
The thing I don't understand is what exactly the sliders for the different colours in the drop-down menu actually do. I've tried tuts that give all the number settings, but I usually find that they don't work on different pics
Like I said, I've started experimenting, sometimes nothing happens at all, sometimes things change weirdly. Mainly because I don't know how they work
i was going to explain but Jas already did just to add: the red color may cancel the yellow sometimes then use the red with more attention

Big time. I <3 that show! I discovered it just before the 4th season ended. The chemistry between the two actors/characters is sizzling!
End of 4th season?!?! You poor thing!!! I've watched since the very first episode. But at least you've found it now. And yes, they have fantastic chemistry.
And that art is great!
