SGA - DigiGuide (UK): EATG - Tues Jan 13 '09:

    At DigiGuide (UK):

    Making the final puddle-jump

Stargate Atlantis, showing Tuesday January 13th on Sky1 at 8:00pm

The sci-fi spectacle reaches its landmark 100th episode and prepares to make its final puddle-jump. Will the Wraith threat be eliminated?

After five effects-laden seasons, the cult show - featuring Joe Flanigan as Colonel John Sheppard - is coming to a close. Plot details are being kept under the tightest of wraps, but producers have promised that the send-off will not disappoint.

"We had always planned a clean conclusion to our 100th episode, one that would hopefully leave fans satisfied, yet eager for more," says series producer Joseph Mallozzi.

In other news, diehard Gater fans need not mourn just yet. Feeding the fans' appetite, sources have confirmed that a Stargate Atlantis movie will land on our screens later this year.

'Dead set on destroying Earth'? That doesn't make much sense, with all the food there...

Here's what we know about the Stargate Atlantis series finale – VIDEO

        excerpt:

The finale is fun, fast-paced, and it features a few thrilling space battles (something Atlantis has been missing for weeks now). Almost every character -- including Dr. Beckett (Paul McGillon) -- gets a chance to shine, and the Wraith seem more threatening than ever thanks to a super ZPM-powered Hive ship. It doesn't exactly end on a cliffhanger, but something quite big happens in the final moments that could set up a great TV movie. (Lets just say that Sheppard might be ordering a DIRECTV sports package for his quarters.)

Spoiler Free Review Of Stargate Atlantis' Series Finale

By Meredith Woerner, 2:16 PM on Tue Jan 6 2009

The end is nigh for Stargate Atlantis — this Friday marks the series finale. We've screened the last SGA episode ever, and want to share some (virtually) spoiler-free details with you.

The episode picks up right where last weeks alternate-reality CSI episode ended. And let me say, "Vegas" was a fun little forensic, cop show mystery. It was almost sad how much I enjoyed this crazy deviation from the regular SGA series, because I knew there would never be another. But bravo, Joe Flanigan, for a fun time as a lone-wolf detective in the hot Nevada desert.

              **snippage**

At the climax you'll raise your hands and say no — how can it be? Will this be the final episode for some of our dear SGA crew members? Possibly, but then again, it is Stargate. Overall, it's a nice long hug with good dose of drama to send you off into the good night, remembering why it is you came to love each character. (Oh, and Teyla only has a few lines, so good all around).

                    Stargate Atlantis

                    9:00 PM, SCIFI

It's ending its run, but like all successful sci-fi franchises, it'll live on in reruns and in the hearts of its fans. In the final episode of this spinoff from "Stargate: SG-1," the Atlantis team races the clock to destroy an advanced wraith hive ship that's threatening Earth. Joe Flanigan, David Hewlett, Torri Higginson and Paul McGillion star in "Enemy at the Gate."

                    ~~**~~**

Well...it was almost all correct. No Torri though.

Paul McGillion I can understand since Carson is actually in the episode, but Torri Higginson? Maybe this article is from an AU news source.

The problem I have is he is not starring. Starring implies they are in the main credits

The Atlantis team says goodbye, for now

About.com Rating: Four out of Five Stars

                            The Big Goodbye

Stargate Atlantis has had a tumultuous five years. Being one of the most fan-engaged sci-fi series has had both benefits and drawbacks for the production team, especially considering the creators' stubborn propensity for writing out--and even killing off--popular characters. Even before Rainbow Sun Francks's Aiden Ford, a first-season regular, was reduced to recurring and then dropped in season 2, the unexpected death of Peter Grodin (Craig Veroni) at the end of season 1 signaled the writers' intent to dramatize the danger of Atlantis's mission by forgoing the assumption that regularly seen faces were sacrosanct. Even the pilot kills off the top-billed military commander, Colonel Marshall Sumner (Robert Patrick).

                            **general snippage**

                            Climactic Confrontation

                            **major general snippage**

"Enemy at the Gate" is an entertaining hour's television, but it also successfully shoulders the heavier burden of closing out (for now--there are TV-movies coming) a cut-above series that, for all its unevenness, will be missed.

He was in the main credits at one point, so it depends on when the viewer last the show. Most TV critics don't nitpick the credits, for whatever reason.
