Well Brian I agree with everything you said except one thing... Doctor Who isn't a simple show and seriously I could derail this thread beyond redemption pointing out some of the great story arcs, continuity and depth of the show (especially the classic series)... the only thing that lets it down which I think your touching on is it's target audience (family and children) and it's effects on how the show is written (new series), I feel DW at times over extends to meet younger viewers but it has yet to sacrifice elements that would appeal to older viewers... The classic series was alot better on this IMO and if anything a young viewer would grow into liking the show rather that the show being written to get their attention...

...Now 'Sarah Jane Adventures' from what I've seen of it is just bad, I liked her character in the classic series and she was a great companion but that show I cannot bring myself to watch
