Ooh! Just thought of another shippy moment from the Storm!
      Spoiler:
When Elizabeth is escorted out of the control room to go get the medical supplies, Rodney doesn't take his eyes off her until Kolya gets in the way. More worried about her than worried what Kolya's going to do?

...Hans, I don't even know how to respond to your BSG/SGA plot bunny. Crazy! Oh no, I'm not taking it on, but I'll chime in with some ideas of my own:
      Spoiler:
If Rodney and Elizabeth go to BSG what are they going to do? Will the BSG people think that they are cylons? If so, how will those two earn their trust? Perhaps Rodney could help with the technical stuff and Elizabeth could serve as a mediator for all the political groups?
Or maybe they don't go to BSG at all and instead are forced to play passive roles in their own heads when Balthar and Six take over. Or play passive roles in the other's head (confused? I am. ) And you know Six would try to get some play with Balthar on Atlantis, mwahaha!

Like a lot of people, I started consciously shipping because of The Eye. First I became a McKay fan in Hide and Seek. (No, I originally didn't really like him, thanks to SG1.) Then I started picking up the vibes and found the months between The Storm and The Eye agony. Then The Eye bonked me over the head and dragged me away.

That little bit in Sanctuary is what finally put me over the top into hardcore shipper mode. It's not every ship that gets me onto the web, let alone writing fic.
Oh, gotcha. I keep on forgetting that there are shippers who simply watch the show and shippers that go a step further and hang out on the internet. Wow, this is the first time I've been a "hardcore shipper"! Can't remember at what point I started digging around on the internet myself, I think it was sometime post-Eye. Lurked a bit on the yahoo group, finally proclaimed my shippiness, and everything went downhill from there! Wonder how many other McKay/Weir shippers are out there that never make it to the internet...

Joy, caption contest number 4! And I find banner 40 totally adorable...

I was reading over at the Weir/Sheppad pro ship thread (I know...but it was just for research purposes ) and I was surprised to see that a lot of the shippers there feel the strongest shippy moments are in "The Storm" and "The Eye." These are eps that I saw a lot of the strongest McWeir too. (course I have not seen all the eps yet so I could change my mind later).

There was all the shippy McWeir
            Spoiler:
during the hostage scenes, consoling each other in the rain, etc
But there were some shippy Weir/Sheppard moments where
            Spoiler:
Sheppard gets so upset when he thinks Weir has been killed, and then he talks about how good it is to hear her voice when he finds out she is alive, and they even hold hands...

I just thought it was funny that both ships came through so strongly in those two same eps! Wow....Weir must have SOME phermones!
Remixed old sig...cause I wanted the pretty again!

              Spoiler:
What if Six is in Rodney and Baltar in Elizabeth with others swapped over to - try to correct it only ends up with Rodney in his own body and Liz in his head like Six and then Six in Elizabeth's body and Baltar in her head? But have those in the heads and bodies still acting slightly towards who they should be...? So Baltar is getting back at Six as himself whilst Six is more compassionate, Rodney's himself but Liz is getting to be like Six? Can you tel I just want to see a Six-like Elizabeth/

                    Research, hee.
Yeah, I also thought it interesting that there was strong McKay/Weir and Sheppard/Weir in the Eye. Of course, many shippers have interpreted scenes promoting their ship as being legit while scenes promoting the other ship are "just friendly concern." I thought it was nice when Rodney
                    Spoiler:
had his arm, and the injured one at that, around Elizabeth. That just seemed so out of place for him; normally he's such a cranky guy with little concern for others. And the fact that he was openly concerned for Elizabeth means that he's opening up quite a bit to her. It was also nice seeing Sheppard so worried for Elizabeth, but for some reason I saw it as less significant than Rodney's concern. Maybe that's because I see Sheppard as more able to show concern for others than Rodney, so it's less of a significant event?

It is cute how both Rodney and Sheppard are so protective of Elizabeth. Lucky gal, does she have them both wrapped around her finger? (Ack, am I becoming an OT3er??Noooooooooooo!)
Incidentally, both Storm and Eye were written by Martin Gero, who has written several season 2 episodes. Wonder if he's penning more ship hints?

Oh, and banner number 40 is from his second discussion with Elizabeth in Childhood's End. So cute it probably should get reposted in the thunk thread...

Yes, I guess that's why I see more Mckay/Weir there too. Not to imply Sheppard/Weir friendship is less but with Rodney it feels more meaningful to me, it just sticks out...and I like seeing it too.

You could always ask. I put up a few questions over on his Q&A, few ones that might be nice to have answers on this thread . Someone has already asked the uniform question or at least the major half but I felt the need to ask about those command stripes or whatever they are down the shrot sleeved tshirts, the stripes only Elizabeth and Rodney have been seen with so far...
Anyway, back to work for me.

Always important to have good shipper relations! Keeps my ninja stars unbloodied! I guess you wrote that Shep/Weir fic "just for research" too? And weren't you working on some SWAMA/OT3 vid? That would be interesting...
Oh wait, forget that. You've got real work to do!!

Ya know, I read a story over on Wraithbait I think where Rodney and Sheppard and Elizabeth all end up together in the end. No angst, no jealousy, just one big happy group. I could get behind that far easier than SWAMA...

Yes, but the Shep/Weir fic was only friendship peice and it was for a challenge! A challenge, I tell you!. As for vids, I've got a vid that's either Shep/Mckay and M/W UST or it's S/W with McKay/Shep friendship and M/W angst...and then there's any EVERY ship vid.... Got Carson/Perna one I'm desparate to vid but yes, work...must work!

Yes, OT3 can (but isn't always) alot less angsty. Of course most OT3 fic is adult rated but if you like that kind of stuff there's one on wraithbait that's...interesting? Called 'Sober'

Hehe, most of them I wrote up today, but all have been at the back of my mind for a while but a few were ones JM couldn't/didn't answer before. I could probably find more things but I'll give the poor guy a break and leave it at 16 questions, until he answers the first lot at least. After that...well I hope he doesn't come to fear my posts there

And yes, I had to ask that question, I desire that knowledge more than the rest even though it may be something we all don't want to know...no one else has asked it on the JM Q&A yet and the MG one is much more appropriate for it anyway. I'm not the crazy SGA shipper for nothing. I've asked worse/shippier questions (Ba'al/Mirror to Cliff Simon comes to mind...)

Yeah, any time Rodney does something heroic or thoughtful, it always seems more powerful than if someone else did the same thing. That The Eye began with one of the McWeiriest moments in the series also adds impact to the McWeriness of that episode.

One of the cinematic aspects of the show that causes me anxiety for my ship is the use of music. The Shweiry moments almost always have a dramatic score to go with them, like that one scene in The Eye, but the McWeir moments usually have no score...

Bit of a tangent, but I think it was you who mentioned Estellio's The Scientist was the second McWeir fic to involve a romance novel. What's the first?

Would it surprise you to hear it's mine? On Wraithbait (that should give you a hint of content, though so far it's not smutty, probably got inaccurate rating - too high that is) - another WIP called "Too Good To Be True". It started out as a oneshot but...things do grow and grow...
