I just saw that myself. Talk about last minute.

I wish the actors would attend some of the smaller fan run conventions. Creation is ok, but you really don't get to meet the actors unless you spend the big bucks AND they happen to attend one of the extra events like a dessert party or a breakfast. The closest you can get is if you pay for an autograph or a photo op. Alas, it seems like the fan run conventions are also having do autographs and photo ops as pay extra events in order to make ends meet.

Enjoy the convention and let us know how it was (I guess that will go in the fandom forum).

Well it's the thread details since I have this thread subscribed. The number of posts is underlined and if you lcikc it's alink - though I suppose the same may work on the thread counts on the main pages. but its the number of posts you click on - and then it pops up.

Did you get my Private Message? I think I sent it correctly. I can resend if you did not.

The only thing that could top David being on the guest list would be David and new SGA regular Mitch Pileggi being on the guest list. If I knew that would happen, I would just say "Damn the credit cards, I'm off to Vancouver!"

Well there are different kinds of dark and as for amoral - what about the direction he was going in in Childhood's end until Weir questioned him on it.
I agree, that was pretty nasty. Perhaps he meant to move them all to Atlantis?

Oh, that's interesting about the piano teacher father. Adds an extra dimension of "Ouch!"

No, Jeannie wasn't mentioned as the favorite, but I'm just going all kinds of speculative places in my mind about how parents can favor one child over the other. I'm an only, so it's not something I know, but I've seen it happen in many families, in subtle yet painful ways.

I guess I'm taking the banter/flirting/etc. as signs of a healthy sexual interest. Some people are not on a flirting/romance/sex wavelength - at least not in an overt way. But Rodney's the opposite.

So many scenes. Sorry I can't choose just one. Off the top of my head -

              Dramatic:

              - Thirty Eight Minutes -
              Spoiler:
His reaction after Carson jumpstarts John's heart.

              - The Eye -
              Spoiler:
Rodney stepping in front of Kolya's gun and trying to bluff his way to save Elizabeth. Also, Rodney yelling "Now!" as his hand hits the button to activate the shield. Not really a dramatic acting moment, just a dramatic moment Rodney participated in.

              - The Defiant One
              Spoiler:
His quiet "Oh no." as he quickly turns to see what Gaul has done.

              - Hot Zone (you know the one, I won't use spoilers).

              - Sanctuary
              Spoiler:
The confrontation scene between Sheppard and McKay. Very intense.

I know a lot of you didn't like Sanctuary, but it showed me a different side to each man, and I liked that.

              - The Siege
              Spoiler:
Very short, but McKay's reaction to "So long, Rodney" and his question to Elizabeth, "You let Sheppard fly that Jumper?" broke my heart.

I'll have to mull over the comedy ones.

I think he did indeed but as Weir pointed out that wasn't the point. It just shows that he has the capacity to do rather ambigious things in the name of science and/or their safety - things that he believes right (until questioned in that case) but may well not be. I guess its a possible hint of how he could be dark but at the start of the scale.

Yep. Read some very very angsty and touching fics which used that to great effect.

Yeah, this seems to almost be fanon these days. It could be true but it's hard to tell. Either way it makes for good reading in fic and it could easily be true. I once felt my brother was family favourite, it was probably just my imaginig since he's older and that created feelings of inequality, but now it almsot seems its the opposite simply because he doesn't call my parets for months at a time.

Yes but does the banter/flirt always indicate someone being on a romance/sexual wavelength? After all he wasn't too good with Allina once he knew she liked him. It's almost as if he's more confident when it means nothing - all bark and no bite (to use an awful phrase...but can't see how else to put it). I guess it's pretty hard to say about things like that since we've not yet seen anything into his romantic/sexual sphere with the acception of Carter or Allina.

Or better yet for Rodney, all hiss and no scratch.

Ooh, and all good ideas for his family backstory and his sis. Hopefully we'll learn more about her next season?

Cats! It's too good that he has one...
As for the sister stuff, it got asked over on the Q&A (and I spent ages searching for the question and it's answer...)
                      Spoiler:
                      1. Will we get meet McKay's sister in the future of Atlantis, or even Season 2 or 3? Not to mention how is her name spelt; Jeannie, Genie or some other way?
                      - It's possible.

Yeah, Jack said something like "that was a waste of a perfectly good explaination" or something like that. Elizabeth seemed to have a little smirk on her face though, kind of like a "yep, that's my Rodney". I have a feeling his long drawn out explainations of things amuse her.
