    Hello everyone!

Usually, when he's in her office John sits in one of the chairs. Maybe they just wanted to change it a little and somebody suggested he sit on the desk without thinking about any shippy implications. Maybe it was Joe because we all know he likes to lean. It was certainly a good way to get them both in the shot and be able to do relatively closeup shots.

However, the flirty looks and that backward glance of his can in no way be construed as just logistics. They seemed to be playing off each other more than I've ever seen them in any other scene. Now maybe they had spent a good deal of time hanging around in there waiting for that scene to be shot. And knowing that they liked to have their political discussions, maybe just maybe, he had pointed out one of the articles in his ever-present newspaper that triggered a hot button response from Torri. And maybe, just maybe, she had bounced the Athosian pot off his noggin a couple of times in frustration until they both collapsed laughing and declaring that the other was stubborn, hard-headed and impossible just before the director yelled "action." Knowing them, it was always a possibility. After all, just recently Joe said that as soon as they met and began to discuss politics, "Sparks flew." Now we know what he meant. Just the few words Mr. SR and I exchanged with him about this made his eyes light up and both eyebrows shoot into the hairline. He even said he never could get her to see his point of view. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a wasted effort, but you could tell he would never have given up trying to sway her opinions. That tells me they had a relationship that could survive all that and still let them be as friendly as they are at cons. Everyone likes a worthy opponent who can discuss without getting nasty. I really think the chemistry comes from all this.
I have to say that I hadn’t thought much about the background of that scene but maybe that says something as well, that the scene just flows and the way they interact just works. I do like everything you mention though and I defiantly believe those possibilities, not only for the scene but for them in general.

I agree with you. It wouldn't be fun if you always agreed with the other. And everyone likes a worthy sparring partner.

How very true. Having a battle of wits with an unarmed person is never any fun.
I tell you Teal'c, hockey is the coolest game on Earth!

Did you not say it is played on ice, O'Neill?

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Smutty Tuesday! Or in my case, Busy Day! Lots to see and do, so I'll see you all later! *waves*

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

And my recommendation for smutty Sparky fanfiction this week is "Making The Rules" by Shayz.

Been there, done that. I like her smut, but I prefer Shayz's. blackwidowmistress isn't too bad at it either.

That's a plausible explanation. It's certainly a convenient way to get them into the same shot. I wondered if it was Joe's ad libbing because of the line in TLG's commentary about how Joe was excited to do a scene sitting down It also made me wonder about the scene in FS with Weir talking to Ellis, where Weir sits on her own desk - is that something she learned off Sheppard and did it without thinking (maybe I'm reading too much into that), is it something Torri learned off Joe and did it without thinking, is it something the director had seen previously and thought he'd do the same here, or was it because Torri is taller than Michael and it was an effort to avoid it looking like a case of short-man-syndrome ("I'm gonna attack Asuras and there ain't a damned thing you can do about it"). Or, if we go all deep, Weir realised she was taller, and in an effort to look less intimidating, she sat on the desk to maintain eye level and to give a relaxed impression

In fairness to Joe, I would argue with her any day of the week too If he's looking for a sub, can do!

The last part would be the most diplomatic thing to do in Elizabeth's case.
