You and me both. The lack of motivation to write is making me very, very frustrated.

I know what you mean. I think I've rediscovered the motivation, get an idea but as soon as I open up a file to start my mind goes blank.

Everyday on FX they show SGA re-runs, they go through all five seasons and then start over again. Yesterday it was Enemy at the Gate. and I watched for a little while. There was the scene with John telling Carter he was going to fly the bomb inside the hive ship, and I couldn't stop thinking about the Siege and our beloved "I have to and you know it" scene.

Not that I think tptb were trying to draw a parallel, because they probably didn't care to put to much thought into it. But I couldn't help noticing the stark contrast between the two scenes. John is going on a suicide mission but the EatG scene is pretty cut and dry and it doesn't pack the emotional punch of that memorable John/Elizabeth scene.

I think that contrast says it all about the differences between those first three years of the series and the last two. It's so much more cold and dry at the end.

Yeah, I had noticed that as well. It certainly didn't pack the same punch. And I was already annoyed we saw so much of the SGC and so many SG-1 characters. But that's a recurring problem I have with TPTW favoring SG-1.

That series finale.... they had so many things that annoyed me. The only SG-1 thing that didn't bother me was the naming of the ship in a nod to Don S. Davis who had passed away. But they had the SGC, Sam, Major Marks, Harriman. And then the most anti-Elizabeth characters got to have bit parts - Ellis and Kavanagh. Yet no single mention of Elizabeth. I like to think that when John was sitting in his plane waiting for his suicide mission that he was talking (in his mind) to Elizabeth.

Ohhh yes, the front-and-center inclusion of the anti-Elizabeth characters with no mention of Elizabeth at all just felt like such a slap in the face. But considering the contempt with which TPTW seemed to hold Elizabeth and Elizabeth fans, it was not surprising.

And nobody did replace her. So much so that John was all alone while everyone else had paired off.

Giving the alternatives, i rather liked seeing him end up alone.

I've always loved the iron woobie, that character that has everything bad happen to them. They lose their loved ones, they get tortured, almost killed time and time again. But there is no time to wallow because they have responsibilities to fulfill and people to protect.

I think you may have nailed a huge portion of my attraction to the Sheppard character, and my new attraction to Mr. Bohannon on Hell on Wheels. They suffer so pretty, and I for one am glad John ended up alone. This also explains my Vegas!John fanaticism.
