        Yes yes you do!

Lately I've been looking for sparky songs that could fit into S4 related fics I'm working on. This is one of them.

        Spoiler:

        "Hallelujah"

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
        It goes like this
        The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
        The baffled king composing Hallelujah
        Hallelujah
        Hallelujah
        Hallelujah
        Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
        She tied you
        To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Mabye I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
        It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

        There was a time
        You let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving to
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

        Maybe there's a god above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry you can hear at night,
It's not somebody who's seen the light
        It's cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Definitely amazing. And that part that says "love is not a victory march"? gets me every time. Perfect.

They are sexists and think only one kind of female characters should exist out there. Writing smart women is hard. Oh but they can never take Sparky away from us. The more I think, the more I'm convinced it was more about the actors than writing.
I'm not a feminist, but I agree with you quite wholeheartedly. This is especially apparent on a little character known as Keller

Oh that's be the little whiny cute girly and a big guy will come to your rescue. i detest that. Elizabeth isn't a caricature like that and guess what? Writing that is hard.

That's one of my all time favorites. Rufus Wainwright version?

This may go Waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy off the beaten path, but has anyone ever watched the anime Trigun? This is the song I think of for that anime because it seems to fit so perfectly.

Here's a shocker: I don't watch anime. But yes, Rufus. he does wonders with that song.

Here's a John - song. Sting can write really awesome, slightly dark, weird stuff.

                Spoiler:
                "Inside"

Inside the doors are sealed to love
                Inside my heart is sleeping
Inside the fingers of my glove
Inside the bones of my right hand
Inside it's colder than the stars
                Inside the dogs are weeping
Inside the circus of the wind
Inside the clocks are filled with sand
                Inside she'll never hurt me
                Inside the winter's creeping
Inside the compass of the night
Inside the folding of the land

                Outside the stars are turning
                Outside the world's still burning

Inside my head's a box of stars I never dared to open
Inside the wounded hide their scars, inside this lonesome sparrow's fall
Inside the songs of our defeat, they sing of treaties broken
Inside this army's in retreat, we hide beneath the thunder's call

                Outside the rain keeps falling
                Outside the drums are calling
                Outside the flood won't wait
Outside they're hammering down the gate

Love is the child of an endless war
Love is an open wound still raw
Love is a shameless banner unfurled
                Love's an explosion,
Love is the fire of the world
                Love is a violent star
                A tide of destruction
                Love is an angry scar
A violation, a mutilation, capitulation, love is annihilation.

Inside the failures of the light, the night is wrapped around me
Inside my eyes deny their sight, you'd never find me in this place
Inside we're hidden from the moonlight, we shift between the shadows
Inside the compass of the night, inside the memory of your face

                Outside the walls are shaking
                Inside the dogs are waking
                Outside the hurricane won't wait
Inside they're howling down the gate

Love is the child of an endless war
Love is an open wound still raw
Love is a shameless banner unfurled
                Love's an explosion,
Love is the fire at the end of the world
                Love is a violent star
                A tide of destruction
                Love is an angry scar
                The pain of instruction
Love is a violation, a mutilation, capitulation,
                Love is annihilation.

I climb this tower inside my head
A spiral stair above my bed
I dream the stairs don't ask me why,
I throw myself into the sky

Love me like a baby, love me like an only child
Love me like an ocean; love me like a mother mild
Love me like a father, love me like a prodigal son
Love me like a sister, love me like the world has just begun
Love me like a prodigy, love me like an idiot boy,
Love me like an innocent, love me like your favorite toy
Love me like a virgin, love me like a courtesan,
Love me like a sinner, love me like a dying man.

Annihilate me, infiltrate me, incinerate me, accelerate me, mutilate me, inundate me, violate me, implicate me, vindicate me, devastate me

Love me like a parasite, love me like a dying sun
Love me like a criminal, love me like a man on the run

Radiate me, subjugate me, incubate me, recreate me, demarcate me, educate me, punctuate me, evaluate me, conjugate me, impregnate me, designate me, humiliate me, segregate me, opiate me, calibrate me, replicate me

It's intensive and disturbing in places, but I love it. Some day I'm gonna make John video with this song because it's so perfect for him.

Dammit!! I haven't been able to access GW for a coupla days now. Don't know why. But every1 seems to have been making wallpaper and writing fic. Can't do either. Eri loved your Epiphany recap. Your recaps are half the reason i keep coming back here (the other half is sparky of course). Tried to comment earlier. DENIED!! Anuna have you thought of Duffy's 'Why don't you release me" song (I'm thinking of Sheppard without Weir - let me out of this torture!! It could also be a good Anti song, possibly already is). Yeah I know it's girly but I turn it up loud and sing to it when nobody else is around. We don't have specialist radio stations in NZ. It's all or nothing here.
Gotta go. Work now. Sparky rulz!!

EDIT: I could see how that song choice would confuse you Torri. I generally like rock. ish. Could recommend a good kiwi rock song (diamond in the rough - Lizzies love for John but i doubt it has gone international yet)

Oooh I'll definitely listen to that. But one song that reminds me of Elizabeth and the whole "she's not good enough to be a leader mess"? THIS SONG:

                    Spoiler:

                    "Powerless"

Paint my face in your magazines
Make it look whiter than it seems
Paint me over with your dreams
                    Shove away my ethnicity
Burn every notion that I may have a flame inside to fight
And say just what is on my mind
                    Without offending your might

Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless what are you gonna do
                    So say what you want
                    Say what you want

I saw her face outside today
                    Weatherworn, looking all the rage
They took her passion and her gaze and made a poster
                    Now it's moccasins we sport
We take the culture and contort
Perhaps only to distort what we are hiding

Cuz this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless what are you gonna do
                    But say what you want
                    Say what you want

Hey you, the one outside, are you ever gonna get in, get in
Hey you, the one that don't fit in, how ya, how ya gonna get in
Hey you, the one outside, are you ever gonna get in with your
Broken teeth, broken jaw, broken mojo
Yeah, this life is too short to live it just for you
But when you feel so powerless, what are you gonna do

» Lorne is one of my favourites. And you're right; he does fit with pretty much anyone. I think Lorne is the only character that can override one of my picky and petty ship preferences. I like him and Teyla together. So much more chemistry than her and John. And hey, he's HOT. And short. Is he shorter than Teyla? I'm pretty sure he's shorter than Teyla for some reason. His manly shortness is attractive nonetheless

I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
                        It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

                        There was a time
                        You let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving to
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

                        Maybe there's a god above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry you can hear at night,
It's not somebody who's seen the light
                        It's cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah
                        Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Definitely amazing. And that part that says "love is not a victory march"? gets me every time. Perfect.
» I love that song, and might make a vid for it this summer sometime eventually. I'm probably going to use the Alison Crowe version though - less common, but I'm in love with her version.

                        » Yay for angst-ridden songs.

Yep I find both Teyla and Lorne to be very shippable. C/T was of course Reiko's influence. I should write something for them.

It's way too early here ad I wish I didn't have a lecture today.... but I do, so before I head out eventually, here's the reminder - go vote Elizabeth: http://forum.gateworld.net/showthrea...74#post8322774 I think it's at least fair to have her with John in final election.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

I also love the Alison Crowe version. I bought that strange Christmas CD of hers just for that song. Strange because a lot of the songs are not really Christmas.??? Check it out here
