I would say yes. I agree about the nature vs. nurture thing. My siblings were adopted and despite us growing up in the same house, we are all vastly different people. But that happens with blood siblings sometimes too. *shrugs* Anyway, I remember loving classes where they let me learn at my own pace.
It's gone through cycles. When I was a kid you got moved ahead a grade. Then that stopped and you had "tracking" for college or trade jobs. Then that stopped and about the time I started teaching "open classrooms" came along. Then they closed up the huge holes they had cut between rooms and went "back to the basics." After that it was "mainstreaming" which was total chaos that is still going on to this day.

Next time say "I hope we don't win the lottery!" I'm glad you got power back. Five hours, huh? Just enough time for some food to go bad?
No food went bad but we did get Chinese so I didn't have to cook. Score. My iPad died after about an hour and I had to read on my phone but somehow we survived. First world problems.

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Lazy Sunday!

No lazy for me, though...we're finally moving into the new house this week. And it's still not quite done, needs some finish trim work, but it's quite comfortable. That kitchen is BADASS. So if I don't show up for the morning reveille for a few days, don't worry, I'm probably just busy as heck.

Heh, takeout dinners is definitely going to be the order of this week for us!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

LOL! I've always been jealous of people who just knew what they wanted to do. Even with me changing careers, I'm not sure I've made the right decision.

Okay, what are "mainstreaming" and "open classrooms"?

Mainstreaming is when they put most of the special ed kids into the regular classrooms and open classrooms were when they combined two rooms into one, did not have rows of desks but "learning centers" for each subject. The kids wandered around and did mostly what they pleased all day and sometimes you were allowed to get them together in groups but you were discouraged from lecturing and never ever had everyone on the same page doing the same thing at the same time. You taught in teams and usually had an aide in each class but not always. Bout killed me. It was similar to the Montesori method.

No, it isn't, and especially when they also don't realize how frustrating it is that they think it can be fixed wit a simple solution when the damn thing breaks.

That sounds just awful! Totally non-productive.

Reply with quote isn't working so I'm taking the lazy way out.

And since Scary Kitty isn't around, Happy Canon Monday!

21K steps!! I'm tired just thinking about that! Sounds like you had fun, though?

On Saturday when I was at 19,282 steps, I was like... "I want to get those 20K steps." -- afterwards, I did declare myself certifiably insane though and so did my feet.

Crazy 3 day work week for me with the holiday and upcoming trip this weekend. Though somehow even though I'm only working three days, I'm still expected to get in the work of 5. I'm already dazed and confused from with data overload (I work off of three monitors filled with numbers) from the extra work. Much to my family's amusement, I'm starting to babble like McKay when he took the superdose of the Wraith enzyme in the Hive, but I do get to shut down a bit early today and I'm off tomorrow so yay. Bring on the road trip.

I'm still waiting to hear back on that job. In the meantime, the other resumes I sent out have not gotten me any other interviews. The jobs guy at my school said it could take 3-6 months so I'm trying to not get worried.

Don't you love it when they expect the same amount of work in fewer days?

Although it must be pretty funny to hear you blabbering like McKay!!

Have fun on your road trip!!

Hamstring is fine -- it got its necessary rest.

Cut my finger while trying to unscrew a bolt... so now my indexfinger hurts instead.
