Hi everyone, haven't been here in a while. I was teaching summer school up until the end of July, which was quite demanding this year, then went on vacation. So, I hope everyone is well; ciannwn your pictures look divine and everyone seems to be up to their regular naughty wraith frivolity.
Well, my husband gave me a subscription to the U.K. Sci Fi mag, and I just finished reading about the up coming stargate universe series with Robert Carlyle as front centre (He's "Begsbie" from Trainspotting). Anyhoo, it seems, or at least I got the distinct impression that Stargate creators (too lazy to get the mag. or to backpeddle to GateWorld Home--Rober Wright, me thinks,) want to create a "universe" sans latex aliens, or I guess aliens in general. In fact, the creators will write about the "inner" battle of the characters, their turmoil, psychological trauma, in space--what? What? a SPACE OPERA?
Hmm.... I get the distinct feeling Wright and co. want an Emmy. I always got the impression they seemed to envy BSG's "mainstream" cred: appeal to the masses and voila you're "successful".
Who knows, I'll keep an open mind. But I'll be honest, I hate the soaps; for the most part they're completely void of humour. I loved Buffy primarily because it was funny. When it got really soapy after season five ish ish, I watched it sporadically. I know many people enjoy soaps, but I just don't have the temperament.
Anyhow, does anyone want me to post the article? I can scan it and send it via Photobucket. Lemme know.
