Brandon Routh PROBABLY Won't Ever Play Superman Again
Firstshowing.net has received information from a Brazilian movie site called Omelete, that recently interviewed Brandon Routh about the upcoming CBM "Scott Pilgrim Vs The World". They got some quotes from the actor about the possibility of him donning the cape again.
Routh (via a rough translation) says that he knows nothing about what's currently going on and, most importantly, that his contract to play Superman has since expired. "But if they call me again, back to the character without thinking twice"

Superman Movie by 2012
Warner Bros., DC Comics and Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel (technically, his estate) have been locked in a custody battle for Superman for some time now, and the latest stage in the case has gone Warner Bros.' way - but the continuing suit could force Warners to put a Superman film in development by 2011 in order to hold onto the rights.

Also, ever since Bryan Singer's 2006's "Superman Returns," a new Superman has been in limbo.
"Our hope is to develop a Superman property and to try again," Warner Bros. Entertainment president Alan Horn said in April. "What hurt us is that the reviews and so on for the Superman movie did not get the kind of critical acclaim that Batman got, and we have other issues with Superman that concern us."

I'm totally glad they decided to reboot the series after that mess (even though all this "we want to make it like Dark Knight" talk makes me sick).
Alright, angry rant over. Phew. I feel better now.sigpic

Brandon Routh To Fly Again?
Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington dropped a little bit of Superman: Man of Steel info today at the SDCC during the Dead of Night Panel.
When asked the ground breaking question of if there were any new news on the project Huntington quickly shouted "No!" But thank god Routh likes us fans because he was a little more apt to let us in on what was in fact going on. The Superman Returns star said that there is new momentum on the project and that he and Sam are both interested on returning for a sequel, if it happens.

Gibbons: 'Superman needs to be reimagined'
Dave Gibbons has suggested that Warner Bros should "reimagine" their Superman film franchise.
The Watchmen co-creator, who provided art for the classic Superman comic story For The Man Who Has Everything, told DS that he found Superman Returns "a little bit unsatisfactory".
"This is my ten cents worth: perhaps it would be a good idea to reimagine it the way that the Batman man franchise was reimagined," he said. "That is the direction I'd take Superman in; I'd go back to basic potentials and start from the beginning."
Gibbons stressed that he felt it would be unwise to make the next Superman dark like Christopher Nolan's reconceived Batman series.
"I've always thought of Superman and Batman as yin and yang. One is dark and mysterious and the other is bright and adventurous," he explained.
"Again, my personal view is that they should make it lighter, with that sense of wonder that Superman has always had. Not to make it childish or puerile but to make it something that has a bright sense of adventure and possibility."
