As hinted at in the end of Rama, the Ramans seem to do things in three's so another spaceship is going through the solar system. Earth sends a team of specialists to explore the ship but instead of the book being about a more detailed exploration it is focused on the crap going on between the team members. I've often complained about Arthur C. Clarke being a bit dry when it comes to the characters in his stories but here he shows why that is a good things as his characters aren't very good. Heck, for all I know the co-author may be completely at fault here.

I've read Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn. Like most of the "adult" books written by women (sorry ladies, but I'm just sayin') it has some mature content in it. Fun to read when you've got nothing else to read (although I would NOT recommend reading it in a HS Economics class).

I read The Dresden Files book 1. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. Read most of it on Friday night and finished it Saturday morning. Jim Butcher has just been added to my list of Fantasy Writing Gods (under Tolkien, sorry).

I've got a thing for fairytale re-tellings, so I read Midnight Pearls by Kinuko Y. Craft (the Little Mermaid) and Violet Eyes (Princess and the Pea) by Debbie Vigui. Kiddish but good.

I know right? I finished all 10 of his books I think in the span of a few months after geekywraith introduced them to me. It's funny and good urban fantasy. Wait til Dead Beat, your head'll explode.

Uh..................................... I take it that it's good then? I put Fool Moon on hold from the library this morning, gonna take a while, as I'm second on the list.

I still haven't finished 'In Enemy Hands' by Weber, but I recently got the hardcover of 'Mission of Honor'.
The CD is interesting (first time I got one): it seems to have all the previous books (plus other stuff) in the series in digital format (I don't have a handy reader, tho' ). Even the 'Bolo' book is in it, too. And pics of the covers. Was this the case w/ prior CDs?

              Thanks gotthammer.
As a fan of the 'Honor Harrington books I'll keep an eye out for 'Mission of Honor'.

I got a CD Rom Disc with my copy of 'At all Costs'.

I just bought "Ashes of Victory" and "War of Honor". Currently working my way through Ashes and will hopefully finish it before Christmas. The series remains good though I think Weber really should have toned down the constant expositions and ponderings that every single character seems to have to do.

They're ok if you have nothing better to read, but they're not particularly deep as far as storytelling goes. It's just something to pass the time.

I found them deeper than some other books. They are also better-written than a certain series of books that the girls of my generation have deemed to be the fantasy book of the century. *shutter*

Eh, I'm backwards, what most other people may find deep, I find them not to be so deep. Philosophy's pretty deep. Here's a light example, it's called a liar's paradox:

                      This sentence is false.

Re-read The Voyage of the Dawn Treader last weekend before seeing the movie, despite the fact that the movie changed the storyline somewhat.

I'd forgotten how funny it was

I'm reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood now. I really like it a lot. I like her writing style. I've never read any of her books before this one; I'd only read her poetry before.

Metro 2033. Quite good from what I've read. The author quite plays on the Russian thing in literature: the Andrei always dies first ! You think, "Hey, he's cool", find out his name and then Andreis always die .
                            Spoiler:
He goes out into the dark of the tunnels - which are infested with mutants and things, calling out to what he thinks is a dog, making lots of noise... and it is a puppy . Seriously, I expect it to not be what it seems, but that's me .

I'm always reading books when I have to take long train rides at times for work. Not always stuff I'd recommend though!

My most recent recommendable read is Iain Banks' "Transition" - a very imaginative and thought-provoking read. Although it's written under Iain Banks (for those who don't know the author he writes 'mainstream' novels under this name and SF under Iain M. Banks) I'd say it's closer to SF than some of his Iain M. Banks output. Without wishing to pressage the age old "what is SF?" debate of course

Now I think I'll read The Last Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko. Love his work.
