That really wasn't bad for something written by a bunch of kids. It wasn't great, but it could have been a lot worse. And they did a pretty good job of capturing Matt Smith's frenetic-ness in the character too.

Those numbers sound like so many peanuts after hearing what the viewing figures were for the third & fourth Doctor episodes back in the 70's.

They were different times. Things have moved on and viewing standards have changed. In this technological and multi-media and multi-channel age we live in, not one show that was on in the 70's and is still around today gets the "live" viewing figures it used to have. But the figures that Doctor Who gets these days are awesome! We're doing really, really well.

As the editor of DWM, Tom Spilsbury said at the beginning of issue 439: "Trust me folks, Doctor Who is going to be around for a long time to come".

Don't worry 4thDoctor - I was married in the 70s and we didn't have the Doctor here in the States at all back then. We were so deprived.

I remember, the first time we got Dr. Who here was in 1981 on PBS. I recall seeing this wild eyed crazy man running around in a really long scarf and thinking "Now this looks like something I'd want to watch".
