It's not to be preferential it's to keep the most at risk safer. All these measures, at least out here are temporary in order to keep people safe and flatten the curve so the hospitals don't simply just fall over (something the US is going to feel in the next two weeks based on modelling.)
It's an odd time for you top develop a social, nay SOCIALIST conscience...….
And how did socialism come into this?

Just how do they expect to pull that off, since most people can't buy masks because they've all been yanked from the distribution chain for health care workers? Even Home Depot/Lowes and such have diverted their painting and such masks.
Even more, the feds told the population in early March not to buy them because they weren't effective?

You just did it.
All socialism is, is a form of "flattening the curve" Do people who have more money have the right to get better access to drugs, medical staff and attention? Did they care back in December and January when the virus could have been caught, investigated and we could all have been ahead of the curve? Hell no.
All you are realizing is that if you had a better medical system, you would be better off.

B) Social distancing means you have to be 1 velociraptor apart... what are you standing so close for? Unless you're a healthcare worker, you have to maintain your distance.

And, for those of you who doubt my cynical attitudes, in this case the greed of business....
https://www.foxnews.com/media/florid...masks-overseas
The head of Florida's Division of Emergency Management has accused U.S. mask manufacturer 3M of shipping the critical protective equipment to foreign countries who outbid U.S. buyers -- even as hospitals and state officials desperately scramble to secure N95 protective masks for healthcare workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.
Jared Moskowitz told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Thursday that he discovered that 3M distributors were prioritizing foreign buyers after they refused to sell him the essential equipment.

Again, you put it into it. read your own posts.
The only point you're even close on is that yes, indeed, we could have done something about this back in Dec. or Jan., when we first heard of shiznit coming from China. We could have slammed the doors on the country. But, politically, could we have done that? No. Not a chance. We're too damned afraid of pissing people off.

Considering the experts been contradicting themselves over it, it's not not true either.
They are wearing a lot more than just the mask. They are wearing an entire suit -- body condom, whatever you want to call it.
Or at least, those lucky enough to have all the equipment.
Which according to the social distancing regulations, you shouldn't be -- as a regular person (even shop-people have to keep their distance).
There are probably a lot of asymptomatic people out there that can be unknowingly spreading the virus. I know someone who works as a nurse in a maternity ward of local hospital, they test all the women who come in so that they can take precautions. She said she had about 8 pregnant women test positive in 2 days and only 1 had any kind of visible symptoms.sigpic
