The super gate was huge. The regular gate is different. Even if it disconnects that's even better. Then it wouldn't explode. Remember a gate is only a device. Its a object, the wormhole is formed by it. It doesn't cause that much interference. We have seen in some occasions people getting beamed right in front of the gate.

look, all that would happen because its smaller is that the interference would only go out like milimeters from the gate. just because its smaller dosent mean the interference would just go away. it would be like having a built in jamming device making it impossible to beam an active gate.
