Mr Aird said the sci-fi thriller is being shot at various locations in and around Hobart, including the world-class production studios at the Goodwood Technopark.
“Arctic Blast will provide considerable economic benefits for Tasmania
“The Screen Tasmania investment of $150 000 will generate more than $600 000 into the economy during production.
“About 60 Tasmanian cast and crew will work on the film, including eight trainees. It will provide valuable on-set production experience and develop their acting skills.”

BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins to Feature the Voices of Fantasy and Sci-Fi Stars Tim Curry and Kate Mulgrew
Award-Winning Celebrities Featured in BioWare’s Dark Fantasy Epic
EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading video game developer BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS), has secured a star-studded voiceover cast for its upcoming blockbuster game, Dragon Age™: Origins. Featuring Tim Curry, star of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Broadway’s Spamalot, as well as Kate Mulgrew, well-known for her role as Capt. Kathryn Janeway in “Star Trek: Voyager”, Dragon Age: Origins also includes notable cast members Tim Russ (“Star Trek: Voyager,” “Samantha Who?”), Claudia Black (“Stargate SG-1,” “Pitch Black”) and Steve Valentine (“Estate of Panic,” “Crossing Jordan”). Dragon Age: Origins marks BioWare’s return to fantasy, created from the ground up to take players through a dark epic tale filled with violence, lust, and betrayal.
Tim Curry will play the villainous Arl Rendon Howe. Howe is the calculating villain, cultured and charming, with an insatiable lust for power, who never hesitates to harm anyone who gets in his way. Kate Mulgrew will lend her vocal flair to Flemeth, a powerful witch who maintains her immortality through the darkest of means, and who plays a pivotal role in the player’s survival. Both roles provide the actors with the opportunity to bring their considerable talents to bear in their portrayal of these characters.
“Dragon Age: Origins has the largest cast of characters of any game BioWare has ever made,” said Mark Darrah, Executive Producer, BioWare. “By working with an incredibly talented cast of actors we are able to bring reality and depth to the characters, their back stories, motivations, and dreams that our talented writers have created for them.”
In Dragon Age: Origins, players take on the role of a Grey Warden, one of the last of an ancient order of guardians who have served as protectors throughout the centuries. Only they have the power to unite the shattered lands, defeat the Archdemon and drive back the darkspawn that threaten to destroy the world. Players will interact with many interesting characters who may join them in their quest, and they will choose whether these characters become friends, foes, or even a romantic interest. Featuring a deep and compelling story where every choice can have a dramatic impact on the game, Dragon Age: Origins is scheduled to release on November 3, 2009 in North America, for the PC and Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and later in November for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

Gleeful about Glee: Canadian actor delighted with role in new fall series.
By Alex Strachan, Canwest News ServiceAugust 27, 2009
PASADENA, Calif. - Cory Monteith, the virtually unknown B.C. performer who has landed the starring role of high-school-quarterback-turned- theatre-star in Glee, held down a number of odd jobs before landing his proverbial big break in Hollywood.
Monteith was a Wal-Mart greeter, a school-bus driver, a roofer and a cab driver.
As just another struggling Vancouver area actor trying to score a regular paycheque, Monteith landed bit parts in the made-in-B.C. movies Final Destination 3, Whisper and Deck the Halls. He had a recurring role on Kyle XY and appeared briefly in Smallville, Supernatural, Flash Gordon and Stargate SG- 1.

Christopher Judge: What’s He Up To After Stargate?
So where’s Christopher been? Some time back in 2008, I had heard him say that he and Michael Shanks were working a script, a backdoor pilot called Rage of Angels. At least the news was that it was going to start filming in the summer of 2009 back then. If I find anything new, I’ll fire that off here.
Connor Trinneer was the man whose mustang had been used by the serial killer on "The Closer." Trinneer was Trip on "Enterprise" and Michael Kenmore on "Stargate: Atlantis." We saw him last season on "24" as the security guard who thought he was helping Hodges smuggle in electronics but helped Jack once he realized he was smuggling weapons. We'll see Trinneer soon in the season premiere of "Lincoln Heights" on September 14.
Tasmania's capital is one of the stars of a new feature film being shot in the city.
'Arctic Blast' stars U-S actor Michael Shanks, as he leads a battle to save the world from a series of huge blasts of ice fog that are causing deadly snap-freezing.
The film's Australian and Canadian producers started filming on Monday, and will shoot for a total of 18 days.
One of the executive producers, Pierre David, says when he films in Canada, local cities are often represented as being in the U-S, but that is not the case with 'Arctic Blast'.
"This script is written for Hobart. It says Hobart, it has Hobart, we don't change the licence plate, we don't change anything, we have emergency vehicles from Hobart, we have police vehicles from Hobart.
.....
It is scheduled for worldwide release in the latter half of 2010.

According to some fans who asked Michael at a convention, the chances of Rage of Angels happening now is pretty slim.
No details as to why.

Money, probably. They're going with 'name' actors for movies and tv shows. I mean, look at NCIS: LA. Chris O'Donnell? And you've got Robert Carlyle on SGU? Movie actors are migrating to tv for work.

With the tragedy of the mismanaged Mexican border and a good plot twist in its favor this film still lacks the directing and screenplay to make good on its promise
New director Ron Daniels hits the ground running with this coming-of-age thriller set along the tense and forbidding Texas/Mexico border. As in many of the recent Tex-Mex border films this story is filled with regret and the resounding failure of US immigration policy as it relates to Mexican citizens. At times they are reduced to mere numbers to be manipulated or a necessary evil to be officially fenced out but brought in by capitalism hungry for affordable labor. These are human being caught in the craw of that least human of all inventions, the corporation.
