SG1/SGA - Dreamwatch SciFI: Amanda Tapping Interview:

      From Dreamwatch SciFi:

      http://www.dwscifi.com/articles/show...category_id=34

(Please follow the link for the complete interview. )

      Tapping on the Gate

Amanda Tapping is best known for her portrayal of Samantha Carter in Stargate SG-1, a show that recently came to the end of its ten-year run. Tapping has re-reprised the role in Stargate Atlantis, while two SG-1 TV movies are currently in production. Bryan Cairns spoke to the actress about the stupendously successful show and new web series Sanctuary.

      **snippage**

You have now moved over to Stargate Atlantis. How’s that been going?

It has been great. My character in Atlantis is a completely different character for me now. Carter being in charge, having her own command, changes her character so much that it is not at all boring. It doesn’t feel like the same Carter. There’s the joke that I am the Kelsey Grammer of sci fi!

How is your character different in Atlantis?

Well, she’s in command now as opposed to being in Sam’s comfort zone. She now has to make decisions that affect thousands of people. She now has to prove herself as a leader of an entire base and, of course, her style is she doesn’t want to piss anyone off. She’s coming into a situation on Atlantis, where there is a lot of heartache. They’ve lost one of their very dear leaders. I think they are reluctant to welcome someone new at first, and then, of course, it turns out to be Sam Carter, which is good for some people and not so good for others.

She has to tread lightly, but part of her command - at least the way I have chosen to play it - is that she relies entirely on the strength of the people around her. She understands Sheppard’s military expertise and, even though she may have the same amount of military expertise, it is not in this galaxy. She has never fought the Wraith before so she defers to Sheppard a lot. She defers to McKay and his scientific expertise in the Pegasus Galaxy. And then Teyla and Roan are complete unknowns to her, so she really has to make her way with them. It is a lot different. The relationships are very new and fresh. Jewel Staite is on the show now as the doctor so there is this neat friendship there between the two characters.

I caught about a minute of that movie, while I was channel surfing during a commercial break during the Scrubs marathon (4 episodes/2 hours) on Comedy Central.

Good grief...this movie is four hours long!

I still have 30 minutes to go...

But we get to see David play soccer with his movie kids (briefly).

Wow, Mark Harmon sure can play whacko sleaze balls with panache...

SG1 - Rick Worthy - Interview & Oblique Reference to Chris Judge:

                    From Media Blvd Magazine:

Rick Worthy Talks About His Character in ABC Family's "Fallen"

                    By Christina Radish

One year ago, ABC Family audiences met Aaron Corbett (Paul Wesley), a high school kid with a mysterious past and a heavenly secret. Now, Aaron has returned in a trilogy that includes the original movie plus four all-new hours of supernatural adventure.

In the mini-series Fallen, Detroit, Michigan native Rick Worthy plays Camael, an angel devoted to protecting Aaron, as he comes to terms with his destiny as The Redeemer. Familiar to audiences for roles in a variety of projects, including The Magnificent Seven, Star Trek: Voyager and Battlestar Galactica, Worthy talks to MediaBlvd Magazine about working in sci-fi and doing his own stunts.

                    **snippage**

MediaBlvd> Did you do any other research into angels or nephilim, or did you just work with what was in the script and the books?

Rick> Being the Internet junkie that I am, I Googled nephilim and angels, and any other combination that I could think of, and I came up with some really cool websites on angels and different orders of angels. Some of the crew also provided us with information on nephilim. Someone had done some research, and they handed us pages that they had researched. People were very helpful with getting us information. But, I also like to research as much as I can, before I start any kind of project. It’s my job to know the character, as best I can. And, there is so much information on angels on the Internet, it’s amazing to me. The interest in angels is constantly expanding and growing. A buddy of mine, who worked on Stargate for the last 10 years, just sold a script about angels. It seems to be a popular thing, these days, and Hollywood is catching on to that.

Tim Guinee (Tomin from SG-1) is in a play in NYC

For anyone in the NY area, Tim Guinee is in a one-act play that is running until August 26th at the Atlantic Theater Stage 2 in New York City. I haven't read much about the show (it just opened last night) because I may get to it and I don't want to know too much. Also, frankly, I don't give much credence to what critics think. I'd rather make up my own mind, you know?

The play is called HUMAN ERROR. It's a world premiere and the playwright is Keith Reddin. Performances began last week (Aug. 1st). There are only three actors in the play.

HUMAN ERROR "concerns the aftermath of a plane crash, where two investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board find themselves surprisingly involved in the life of a survivor. As they search for the cause of the disaster, they find themselves drawn together in a romantic entanglement which leaves them both changed and shaken."

HUMAN ERROR plays Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2:30 PM & 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM. All tickets are $35 and are available by calling Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or online thru ticketcentral.com.

SG1 - Dreamwatch: Shanks for the Memories:

                          From Dreamwatch:

                          http://www.dwscifi.com/articles/show...category_id=34

(Please follow the link for the complete interview.)

                          Shanks for the memories

Michael Shanks played the role of Dr Daniel Jackson for the first five seasons of Stargate SG-1, before his character was killed off after exposure to radiation. That didn’t stop the character from making the odd appearance in season 6 and for returning for good in season 7. Bryan Cairns spoke to the actor about saying a final farewell to the show.

                          **snippage**

In the last few seasons, Daniel had been killed, ascended, and turned into a Prior. Have you been put through the wringer again in the movies?

                          **snippage**

In the second one, Continuum, while I was doing 24, these guys went up to the Artic so I couldn’t come. Rats. As a result of that, the way the original script was written, that all the characters are walking through the Arctic, they couldn’t have that anymore. So Brad wrote something that justified Daniel not being there. The way he does that is there is water coming into this ship that they are in and it is sinking. Daniel steps in it, is going to lose a leg, and be without it for most of the film.

Brad asked me afterwards, “How do you feel about that?” and I went, “Oh, this is great. It gives me something very different to play with the character, where he’s thrust back into a changed reality with a missing leg and is forced to live his life as a normal civilian.” So we get to see more of a dark, bitter aspect of the character than we’ve seen before.
