GateWorld talks with Connor Trinneer


For the time being it appears that the hybrid Michael is out of the picture. But Connor Trinneer is still very much in the game, playing daddy to his three year old son and going out for gigs in LA.

GateWorld sat down with Connor just before Christmas to talk about the latest -- and perhaps last -- developments for his character in Season Five's "The Prodigal," to discuss what worked and what didn't, and the subtext behind Michael's motivations.

GW: Either that or he's just shifting priorities. He's not exactly sure what he wants. Which I think is the case with this character. Once we meddled with him I don't think he knew what he wanted after that.

CT: He was. He was a man without a home. I think that that did play into everything that happened. He was grasping with straws, all of them. There was a time when he was working with [Atlantis]. It was for his own benefit. He was somebody who just didn't have a lot of grounding. It was a hell of a lot of fun to play.

Warner Bros. drama specialist sells in Griffith Park

Mary Clancy Collins sold a three-bedroom, three-bath home at 4217 Dundee Dr. in Griffith Park/Los Feliz for $1.165 million to Gayle S. Park and Allen H. Park on Dec. 18.

Collins serves as vice president of drama development for Warner Bros. Television. Collins heads the development of one-hour drama series for the primetime slots, and works with identifying new talent and creative material for the company.

She previously served as vice president for current programming. She had creative oversight of dramatic and comedy series such as "Without a Trace," "Cold Case," "Close to Home" and "E-Ring." She's also worked for MGM Worldwide Television Group as a senior vice president of creative affairs where she developed cable series "Dead Like Me" and "Stargate: Atlantis," among others.

Question> In season two, we saw Michael go up against some considerably darker adversaries than he faced in season one. Will we be seeing Tim Matheson or Michael Shanks reappear later in the series will even more sinister characters start appearing?

Matt> Yes. Yes to all. Well, I should say, Tim Matheson returns in season two in spectacular fashion as the director of the finale. He does not return. Larry doesn’t come back in season two. We definitely want to bring Larry back. We love Larry. But, you know, he’s a – nothing more to say than that we’re bringing him back in season three and not in season two

And yes, Michael Shanks will be coming back and gets a chance to do some really, really fun things. And, you know, I guess I’d say, like, the fun thing about it is that – the fun thing about Burn Notice villains is they really all have to be smart. It’s no fun to see Michael wipe the floor with somebody who doesn’t have a good plan. I think our conception is always that, you know, presumably Michael dealing with those guys is just, you know, those are the cases Michael is taking that don’t get turned into episodes. You know, they’re just too easy, so we’re showing you the highlights. We’re showing you the really good ones where he’s up against somebody who’s really a worthy adversary.
