I don't use either, but the ignore list is so you can ignore all posts by a member who bugs you, including PMs. The buddy list makes it easier to keep track of people you buddy. Depending on forum software, you may for example get a notification when a buddy comes online. I don't know exactly how it works with vBulletin software, however.

My understanding is the Buddy List does absolutely nothing but put a + next to the person's name when they're online in the really long list of people that are online -- and since I am always in My Controls I don't even remember where to find the really long list of people online. It also puts a + next to the person's name if they're in the same thread as you ... and if you frequent a thread often and that's why this person is a Buddy, it certainly makes the + pointless, no?
The Ignore List is much more functional as, yes, it Ignores that person completely. You, however, see view their posts but it's one extra step. I find it particularly useful if a person drives you completely insane by their posting style and personally but they aren't actually offensive, they just drive you batty. If you have them on Ignore you will not see their post unless you want to so if you're feeling particularly short tempered that day you can opt to not put up with them. Love it!
AdrianneIf I never reply to something you said to me, it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you, it means I'm lazy and the thread moves too fast.

I agree that it's much less useful there.sigpic

What are people's preferred way of making signatures? I've only made one (a basic one), and I did it in paint, and it was a pain. A quick google search just gave me a headache with all the sites! Is one easier for a beginner?
Thanks ParadoxRealities for the advice on rotational sigs.

There was a small part of America's Next Top Model I saw where it was said, "Don't make a disclaimer before you do something, then it only shows your flaws." Hmm!

And I know there are many sites to work on signatures, I was just wondering what the people who do really good ones use.I GoodSearch for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons ResearchRaise money for your favorite charity - www.goodsearch.com - powered by Yahoo!

It will take a long time to read all that, but I do try to go back and read all the posts of the threads I join.

I need some help. I'd like to have my sig banner made into a poster, amongst other things, but the size is all wrong. *E*K*R*, who created it, hasn't been here for nearly 6 months, which suggests she's having major RL issues. She's not answering my emails, although she may be ignoring them because she doesn't recognize the address. I've looked at other people's sigs and a lot of them are photo-based, rather than the kind of artwork I'm looking for. Any ideas who might be able to do something for me? I'm not looking to change my sig, just get something similar to it that I can use for a poster, T-shirt, whatever.
Please note that I have no problem getting a picture on a T-shirt. The problem I have is the size of the picture. When my sig banner was printed out for Cliff to sign, it came out 4cm high x 16cm wide (1.75in x 3in approx.). If it was scaled up for a T-shirt I'd end up with a narrow strip across my chest - not the effect I'd want. The reason I want a poster is that Cliff loved my sig banner and said it should be made into a poster. System Lords expect to be obeyed!C-D

testing...
just changed my e-addy.. just trying to find out if this actually works!
question..
when did the amount of PM's change in the PM folder?
it suddenly went from 10 to 70 a while back. I think I only had about 9 in there, total.
Within the last 2 hours, after changing my e-mail, it suddenly dropped to 5 (maximum) and said my box was full, so I started deleting PMs. But after removing 2, it now says "a total of 30 is allowed" and everything looks fine.
that's too confusing to keep up with.

The answer to their question could be anywhere in that thread (or not at all), so I wouldn't blame them for asking the same question even if it was recently asked before.
Can you not search only a thread?? No, you can, it says, right there, "Search this Thread".
