The constant The connection to the server was reset IS annoying.

Not to mention a pain in the backside.

a custom av is a combo of posts count and length of membership

we've had a few people post like mad, cranking out 2000+ posts in a couple of weeks just to get their custom av that then have to wait weeks to fulfill the time limit.

It's meant to be a reward for participation, not a posting goal

That too. i had been a member coming up a year before i got near 2k and im not much past it now

is it true that the ranks to longer have a set post count like before ?? i swear i remember a post talking about this ??

It's the reputation-rank that is no longer tied into firm/static numbers. I think the posts-rank is still set by what you posted.
