New members will be automatically promoted to "Basic Trainee" when they meet a minimum threshold for posts, length of membership, Reputation. (These thresholds will not be disclosed, for obvious reasons, and may be periodically adjusted.) The moderators are also empowered to manually promote new users if they are convinced that they are "law-abiding" citizens and not spammers in disguise.

I have the ultimate of weirdness, and it might be linked to my Dad's account. We are using the same computer, but with different emails, but I cannot access my own friends page. whenever I hit "Edit Friends of Accept Friendship Request" I get dad's Friend Page, so ant help there?

Hmm clear the computers Cookies and then try it. sometimes it happens due to the cookies saved. if after that it stops and lets u on to your friends list you have found the issue

Not only cookies, cache too. And afterwards restart the browser. Not to mention the browser you're using makes a big difference. I've found using IE(8) to visit forum.gateworld.net to be a real pain in the mikta. Firefox works better for the GW forum.

agreed. FF is a much better browser for Gateworld then IE.

And if you haven't yet - sign out of GW then repeat all the clearing of the cookies, cache, etc before signing back on.

I have tried to upload a Picture to my album. It is less than 97kb smaller than 600X600 pixels however I keep getting a message that it is an invalid file. I am using both the standard pain program that comes with the computer and photoshop. Neither seem to work.

depends on the file type, what is the file type ending with? normally .jip/.gif works just fine for me

i recently joined gateworld, but now something weird is going on. A day or so into my membership, I could click on my username, and it would bring me to a page where I could see my post count, and what I posted. It was pretty useful to be able to jump directly into a thread and see if anyone responded to what i said.

now, when I click on my username, it says "sorry, ne0phyte! you do not have access to this page...." can anyone tell me why this is happening?

there was a spammer sending email's to members so the mods set it up that probies can't view members profile's

depends on the file type, what is the file type ending with? normally .jip/.gif works just fine for me

It probably also depends on the dpi of you image. You should probably check if it is 72 dpi.
