    He should, they're bothersome.

i think you can configure ad block to only block certain ads, or you could do what i do, run your puter with the sound muted
So basically she can't listen to any music while browsing because GW has obtrusive ads?

She should just do what any sane person should do: Disable flash and blocks ads globally.

Sorry. I could have sworn I read somewhere that Darren said he let a lot of annoying ads stay but sound was where he drew the line.

I have a question that is just loosly related to GW.

I use the ad-block add on from firefox to block all the ads I do not wish to see. I have it deactivated on GW though to do my part for paying the bills for this marvelous site

However, lately there are some ads popping up on GW, which have sound. And every time that happens I almost fall off my chair, as the noise comes unexpectedly. It is somewhat annoying. Is there a way to have my ad-blocker block those annoying noisy ads, but leave all the other advertisements alone?

          Many thanks for any suggestions
Do you click on any of those ads? If I'm not mistaken, that's what supports GW, not just allowing them to show up on your screen.

no, never - I just tolerate ads showing up, as I know daren needs that to pay bills.

Usually it happnes like that: I click my controls...it loads...I almost fall off my chair as it starts chirping or shwooshing after the loading is finished (haven't done anything just then)

It is always the same two ads (a life time calculator and an online game) - so I wondered if I can block just those two while leaving the remaining ads alone.

Just seeing the ads won't do any good to GW. If you want to help the site, you need to click some of the ads. If you don't do that, you might just as well block all the ads.

Darren and Greg gets money from the ads.
If there was no ads, then GW would fall...
And if a computer company would take it over, I don't even whant to think about what they'll do...

I just wish somebody would invent ad blocking software that'd send a click or at least a view to the ad vendor but wouldn't show the ads to the user.

That's not how it works.. Darren said that viewing the ads earns GW a little money and clicking them earns a little more..

Yeah, I realized my mistake. That's good then. But the sound ads are still annoying, and I don't want to have to mute my speakers just for GW.

Darren has said that sound ads that play without you touching the ad should be removed from. So if you have the link to the ad I would report it to him.

but to discuss ad issue you need to report them in that thread not here

like the guys have said, if you have an ad that plays sound without you rolling over or clicking on it, post in the 'problem ads' thread the title, client, etc so that he can tell the ad company to remove it from the rotation.

the same prodecure would follow if an ad slipped thorugh that had inappropriate content
